It seems pretty callous to refer to this woman's death as "Terri Schiavo croaks!". She wasn't just some news story or political agenda or forum topic, she was a human being who should be shown some respect. Would you want that said about someone you knew and loved?

Who do you think this nebulous "louise13" is, and has she PM-ed anyone else?
Please help me formulate a suitable reply for louise..?

Dear Louise,
Unfortunately, Terri Schiavo has ballooned beyond the realm of a "human being who should be shown some respect."
I wouldn't talk this way about some anonymous dying person in a hospice in South Dakota, but Terri's tragic plight became part of popular culture, politics, and the 24-hour news cycle. By that measure, the situation is fair game for ridicule and scorn.
People die all the time (wars, lack of health care, poverty, etc), and people rarely bat an eye when jokes or biting criticism is made about their situations.
PS: Lighten up.

Ask her if she would like to insert your "feeding tube".

I wonder if her parents or husband read this forum? If they do, boy are they gonna be pissed. Praise the Lord we have people like Louise to remind us all how public our comments can be.
By the way, now that it's over, I think I'll start a blog about people who don't show the proper amount of false grief regarding Terri Schiavo's death. At least until the next tragedy that I can co-opt comes along. Living vicariously rules.
