Seriously? So Moby is doing a pre inauguration thing at the club… I happened to catch part of one of those "world class" DJ sets last year and if you like cheeseball late 90s "rave" tracks then he's delivering the goods. ::) Highest paid Wedding DJ ever!
Moby is the best we can do?
Ouch.
That bad?
I've heard tons of mixed reviews of his sets and have no idea what to think but you tend to know your dj's more than most so I'll take your word for it.
Edit:But the more I think about it, the more not-so-bad hanging out in the club until 6 AM dancing like a jackass to shitty 90's rave music sounds.

a dj set by moby sounds really lame.
It could be a LOT worse, people.
Tiesto.
That's all.
Tiesto.
That's all.
:D
Springsteen aint too bad, better than Moby.
Granted I haven't seen Moby in a while, but at the time, I remember thinking he wasn't really relevant anymore. On a side note.. anyone remember that video of Moby getting punched in Boston (?) outside a club by some guy in FSU.. i hadn't thought of that in a while until this post.
..now if they'd only add Deadmau5 to that show.. then you'd have a show worth seeing.

While dancing to shitty 90s rave music til 6am sounds neat, Kosmo is right, Moby doesnt need to do this.
In fact, DC area has many local DJs capable of playing the rave hits and mixing some records together.
actually….wait a minute….whats wrong with shitty 90s rave music?

If he plays "Electric Slide" I'm there!
while the music snobs on this board would naturally prefer derrick may or some other lesser-known DJ figurehead, the choice of moby is perfectly understandable. indeed, any number of local DJs can spin 90's rave hits - but would the masses trek out to the club to dance to them? unlikely. moby will sell out the club, unknown bedroom dj will not. this show wasn't meant to appease the chin-scratching set.
Scott Henry would probably sell out the club, but i dare say he probably makes close to Moby money.
On a personal note, and i have probably stated this before in a different Moby-bashing thread; I have met Moby on several occasions and he is a very interesting person. He's super smart and has a good sense of humour about the whole DJ thing. He certainly makes Norman Cook (who I've also spent time with) seem like a talentless fuck.
and i wont even start on Brian Transeau….

he cant still be alive, can he?
why all this moby hate?
he did that really weak MOB cover, and in his own mind sang for Flipper for a spell in the 80's. He's legit!

There's a name I haven't heard in forever.

No questioning whether or not Moby is legit, but I do recall reading that his claim of being apart of Flipper is a bit tenuous… However, the claim of no longer being relevant can certainly be made, now that he used his brand name to become just another celebrity DJ. For the amount of money he probably makes one would think he could show up with more barely adequate DJing skills and "James Brown Is Dead" burnt on to a CDR. It's more important for him to jump around posing then being a DJ.
Of course what I think is moot, seeing as the people there to seeing were having a great time….
This more has to do with the fact that with all of the leading musical acts whose egos would bring them DC bound, all we've gotten so far is Moby and Jay-Z. I suppose the predicted madness maybe keeping some away….

Please, as if you wouldn't let her lick your head.
