This was a great - albeit very sad - event.

Did anyone ask is his buddy Stevie Malkmus had mentioned to him a Pavement reunion?

he played the upcoming album almost in its entirety, solo acoustic, with some vocal help from his wife. then answered questions for a while. well, questions were asked and he spoke, if not necessarily directly relating to the questions.
very special, touching, unique event.

did anyone else think people were overdoing it with the cameras?
he's speaking about losing a friend, blake's family is in attendance, meanwhile people are shooting a ridiculous amount of pictures with dSLR's.
maybe it's just me, but it seemed a little inappropriate.

I can't speak for anyone else, but my photog was approved by the Corcoran and told she could shoot from anywhere (and did) so I'm guessing you're referring to her. She mainly took shots during the music performance, and then only during the Q&A when it felt appropriate, as in, when Dave was talking about something "light". I know what you mean though, and at one point I was going to tell her to stop but since there were so few people in attendance and it was such a special event, and she shoots really artistic photos, I felt it was worthwhile/important to be captured. I thought she was very tactful though in keeping her distance and not getting in anyones way. She's a pro and not one of our random party photogs.
My apologies if it took away from anyones experience though, was obviously not our intent.

totally agree. but, y'know, everything must be documented, there must be photographic evidence of everything! god forbid you simply have your memories!
