Virgin Festival Montreal, which as we learned today, will offer a lineup featuring the likes of the Black Eyed Peas, New Kids on the Block, Simple Plan, Akon, Hedley, Live, Lights, The New Cities, Eva Aliva, and Divine Brown between June 19th and 20th in Parc Jean-Drapeu. Tickets for the weekend will go on sale beginning Saturday, May 9th.
We have always received word that details of Baltimore?s Virgin Mobile Festival will be unveiled soon as well.
Wow, that festival looks craptacular.

I would kindly suggest to Seth having absolutely zero talent overlap between VFest Baltimore and VFest Montreal.

if you're going to visit montreal for a music festival, it's all about the the jazz fest. there is no other.

that is a perfect example of a line-up by (corporate) committee, with nary a person from the music industry in sight. i can see a bunch of old men sitting around a table and trying to come up with a line-up. between looking at album sales charts and reading a few bad blogs, they probably think they have "exactly what the kids want!!!". ugh.

ummm…this statement confuses me. the music industry is a corporate industry about making money. that's why it is called the music business. it may be a shitty lineup from my perspective and yours, but it will probably make tons of money, and that's the point. plus, festivals suck anyway. Let all the sucky people spend too much money to go to their stupid festival.

really? that was hard to understand?
ok, lemme try again: that is a perfect example of a line-up by (no-music corporate) committee, with nary a person from the music business in sight. the idea here is that a bunch of non-music marketing executives, or telco bosses, etc made these decisions - not someone who actually knows how the music industry works.

do you people think you are the only people on earth?? Like, if its not bands you like, then it it crap?
This is clearly a pop festival. But its just like any other. Its got the big "now" headliners, BEP, its got the wicked cool reunion group NKOTB. then its got big name Akon, Canadian pop-punk gods Simple Plan, Canadian Idol winner Eva Aliva, plus other semi-popular Canadian acts.
I understand, the music sucks it, and i hope none of this comes to Baltimore, but saying that whoever planned this lineup knows nothing about music, or suggesting these bands wont sell tickets, is insane.
you know better than that sweetcell.

yes, i recognize that tastes here don't match those of the much larger mainstream; and no, i'm still of the opinion that this festival won't sell very well. this caliber of line-up does indeed appeal to the masses, but these aren't the kind of people who are going to pay typical festival prices to attend such a festival in large numbers. this line-up, spread over two days, will need a low ticket price to attract people. all IMO.
UPDATE: "Virgin Festival Montreal takes place June 19 and 20 at Jean Drapeau Park. Tickets cost $75 per day, $133.50 for both days." i just don't see this selling very well.
i look forward to seeing what the attendance numbers are, maybe i'm completely wrong.

I don't know. NKOTB ticket prices were about that for one show if you got the good seats (based on research, not experience), BEP have the #1 pop song in the country. I'm sure they'll add some other craptacular groups to the lineup. Seems like the potential audience would think these ticket prices are a steal. It's about money, not about knowing anything about music.

I'll give a performance for a third of that ticket price. You can check with these satisfied customers:
