PAVEMENT to reunite...

Yeah I read this…

I wonder if it even makes sense financially.. I mean I think its great if they reform to do a charity gig in Central Park..

But if they reform are they going to sell more tickets than they did 10 years ago? They were always playing the 930 club.. never made it out of there..

Has their audience grown since then? Malkmus does pretty well by himself and they'd have to split hte money five or six ways if they reformed.. Unless they can make the jump to a  Merriweather or more likely DAR I don't see it…

Maybe…
….or maybe money isn't the only reason behind it.

Regardless, this reunion would be a large festival draw, so I'd say it makes sense.  However, that article doesn't really give any information beyond speculation.
Could Pavement play DAR or Merriweather for their first shows in 11 years? Yes. Would they play those same venues the second tour after reformation? Nope.
dog shit is on the pavement.  and you clean it up . . . but the stain and smell are still there.
Until they come back and crush a Slanted & Enchanted from-start-to-finish set ala the Pixies and Doolittle!

couldn't pavement make a ton of cash on the festival circuit, and then tour almost for the fun of it?

that said, there seems to be a lot of pent up demand for this

I'd cry if they played DAR.
Agreed - not sure what local venue I'm rooting for.

I could go for a three night run @ 9:30, personally………….

930 Club is the one and only place they should play.
