930 club switching to TicketFly.com in 2010???

I started to post the very same picture…but then I got lazy.

for the love of god, sweetcell was just making a simpsons reference. shame on all of you who didn't get it.
Jag, I certainly can't fault you for not knowing a Simpsons reference or an internet meme. I do, however, LOL at you for thinking that my post was in any way an acceptance of this situation. I think your rabid individualism is interfering with your perceptions and/or cognitive abilities.

As an independent individualist, I have no qualms about calling them as I see them. Sheperds are for sheep and I'm certainly not one of the flock. With all due respect, you call in your manner and I'll call in mine and may the few truly open minded hear without all that wool stuffed in their ears

Do you have any idea how self-agrandizing  that sounds? Congrats, you've managed to make independence and individualism sound like douchbaggery.
(Apologies for the poor formating on the above post… Damn mobile browser)

You've always been able to buy tickets at the 9:30 box office with a mere $1 fee, so hopefully this will not change

Hopefully, it won't. But as district said in the other thread, it is hard for some of us to get down there.

This is one of my favorite arguments.

One affordable option is available to concert goers, but it's difficult for them.

So Seth provides another, more convenient option option for them, and folks attack HIM for it because it costs more.
As for parking, without getting into the semantics of not encouraging driving with such fabulous public transportation options,

Metro is far from me and the time is doubled and it still ends up costing me the same. Let's take this one off the table though, my experience is different and I shouldn't have made it a part of the discussion.
Regarding the fees, I wasn't speaking directly to Seth, but it's all the same, I guess. Nothing wrong a healthy discussion about this, especially when the club does read our opinions. I already said I do avoid buying tickets when I cannot afford them or the fees. I have picked up tickets at the window if I could or had someone pick them up for me. I appreciate this option and have often expressed the same appreciation for Seth and the club.

My God, I cannot believe we are having this discussion AGAIN. You must be the kind of people who go home at night and watch the same movie every day of your life. Fawning sycophant imbeciles.

Groundhog Day  ;D

this was NOT done to lower service charges…it was done to start working with a company that has a lot of cool ideas

Seriously?  I hope they have more than "cool ideas."  The lack of a shopping cart feature and the lack of ability to save your information if you want to seem like bad ideas.  let's hope at least that their servers are good at bouncing mass orders from scalpers, and handling big ticket sale days so we'll have no more BS like that Smashing Pumpkins ticket sale in 2007.
What are said good ideas?

I don't know about you guys, but I view not having a pre-populated account as an anti-scalping measure.  Yes it's a bit more difficult for you, but imagine how hard it is for a computer to fill out these boxes everytime if they move the input information around for each ticket, or change the title of the input to something that the auto-fill computer won't recognize.

Of course the scalpers will find a way eventually, but at least ticketfly is making an effort to thwart scalping and costing the scalpers more money to figure out how to beat the system.
Or they're simply low-quality and fly-by-night?

Yes, you're spot on with this one.  Seth is willing to risk his business on a low-quality and fly-by-night operation.

Or, he's taking advantage of ticketfly's strategy to push tickets via web 2.0 and social media outlets like twitter and facebook to both (1) sell more tickets and (2) get tickets into the hands of fans.
good points, vansmack, but not sure anti-scalping is really the reason of the switch…i'm curious to hear these "cool ideas".

I didn't say that it was.  I was telling folks why I think that they don't have pre-populated accounts.

As for the cool ideas, start with the easy stuff.
well, 930 has a facebook page and someone tweets for the club already…also i think the club does not have a problem selling tickets…

i really love brown paper tickets….  http://www.brownpapertickets.com/

the last two Andrew Bird presales have been sold through there, $30 face, under $3 fees I believe.

well, maybe next year, Seth….

Ha HA.

I do not believe for one second that not having pre-populated user accounts has as much to do with scalper prevention as it does the ticketing agent not wanting to additional database management costs associated with storing said records.
I've heard good things about brownpapertickets.
I bought my Swell Season (pre-sale) tickets via etix.com and the fees were $3 per ticket that's it - will call only.
Musictoday is cheaper as well for their pre-sales.

Hey Seth - any comments regarding a shopping cart? In the past we can put different show tickets in a cart and I believe, avoid multiple fees by conducting one bulk order. Will we be able to do this w/ ticketfly?

If only it were that easy….
i like how julian has been using HA HA's lately.  it's . . . waif model who can't stop looking in the mirror cute.
Im a big fan of brownpaper tickets. Friends have used them for various things with meetup groups. Le Poisson Rouge is using inticketing and the service charges are minimal. 1.50 service charge on a $10 ticket isnt bad at all. Plus they have also added this: Yes, please add $2.95 USD to my order to help green my experience.
This equates to 1 green ticket(s) @ $2.95 each which offsets approximately 348 lbs. of CO2. (details)
This will appear as a separate charge from In Ticketing

On the other hand - a ticket at the Littlefield for $10 is $12.25 using ticketfly plus they have no option for hard tickets. :( Not sure I like that in case I cant make the show for some reason :(

What is a 'green ticket'? Are you actually getting something or is this some mind game which throws extra bucks Al Gore's way?
