Fuck that was one amazing show last night. Just incredible. Sometimes you go to a show and get exactly what you need and that was it for me.
Mountain Goats
Agreed. My favorite out of the three times I've seen them. Felt a little shorter than usual, though.
Incredible show. Anyone have a setlist? I'm pretty sure they played (in some order) the following songs, but I know there was more than this:
1 Samuel 15:23
Cotton
Psalms 40:2
Love Love Love
Hast Thou Considered the Tetrapod
Hebrews 11:40 (with Final Fantasy)
Song for Dana Plato
It?s All Here in Brownsville
Genesis 30:3
Thank You Mario, But Our Princess Is in Another Castle
Song for Dennis Brown
Enoch 18:14
This Year
Encore:
No Children (with Final Fantasy)
1 Samuel 15:23
Cotton
Psalms 40:2
Love Love Love
Hast Thou Considered the Tetrapod
Hebrews 11:40 (with Final Fantasy)
Song for Dana Plato
It?s All Here in Brownsville
Genesis 30:3
Thank You Mario, But Our Princess Is in Another Castle
Song for Dennis Brown
Enoch 18:14
This Year
Encore:
No Children (with Final Fantasy)

I believe last night he said that song is a reference to a video game (the name of the game is escaping me right now).
You sure it wasn't "Thank You Mario, But Our Princess Is in Another Castle"? Cuz that definitely is, and maybe it's the geek in me, but it's amazing that someone didn't know that?

No no, that one's obvious, but he said Enoch is in reference to some game with long cut sequences.
I do appreciate the condescending tone of your last post, but perhaps you should attend the show before acting like you know what you're talking about.
Wow! Now who is being condescending?
Maybe it's because I know NKOTB but, believe me, he is one stand-up guy.
Chill out.

Enoch is part the apocrypha. So…they're reading the Bible.

It's the geek in you. Not amazing at all. Perhaps in certain circles/age groups but otherwise, no.

"The Apocrypha," which I suppose if you're Catholic you could argue would make it part of the Bible, contains 12 additional texts in additional to the standard 66. None of them are the Book of Enoch. I know of no major Judeo-Christian sect that would claim its part of the Bible.
In the realm of "questionable" texts, its fairly obscure (relatively speaking), which is why I'm sort of surprised they have a song about it.
nerd alert ;D
No point in arguing what is "part of" the Bible - but I'd say Enoch is just as obscure as Golden Boy peanuts, if not less so.

right - and neither are considered part of the Bible.
No, I was actually being condescending. But thanks for sticking up for me Jag :)

Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church considers it part of their canon.

Also, in case anyone was wondering, Enoch 18:14 reads…
"And there I beheld seven stars, like great blazing mountains, and like spirits entreating me."

You can find the book in new revised standard translations – and its cited at various times throughout the New Testament.
wow.. I guess Darnielle no longer plays anything from the 90s?
