A thread for guilty pleasures.

how is the jackson 5 a guilty pleasure?

The Jackson 5 from the 60s-70s (ABC, I Want You Back, etc..) aren't a guilty pleasure, but this is the Jacksons from the 80s….super high cheese factor with the Messianic Michael and the bad special effects and lazer sounds.

True but what trumps them all is owning a Jermaine Jackson record. Thats a guilty pleasure….not mine though.

Since I listen to alot of hip hop, here's two of mine: MC Paul Barman and Bizarre from D-12. Examples are below:

MC Paul Barman - "Cock Mobster"
Before you say anything…dude got lines like "I wanna fire Blanks, in Tyra Banks" and "I wanna smelly slice/of Kelly Price". Hilarious.

Bizarre - "Bad Day"
This is a parody remake of Ice Cube's "Today Was A Good Day". I still fall out listening to this.

Its a re-make

great idea for a thread, ardamus, unfortunately i don't see too many folks joining in.  for too many it's all about lookin' cool, and you're asking them to admit to their uncool.

but i'll play.  i'm quite comfortable with my uncoolness - i'm on record as liking radiohead and U2, i would love to see a jamiroquai show, and i listen to trance and chillout/downtempo/etc.

i like a lot of uncool shit. but i do give a fuck? heeeeeeeelllllllll noooooooo.

you admit to liking U2? yikes. LOL. i got boundaries, dude…..
opera.

women.

jesus jones.

ghostface killah.

reruns of "hee-haw."

wendy williams's face when she says, "how you doin?"

did i mention that relaxer makes me go all soft and bubbly inside.  and here we began as fighters, not lovers.

Oh come on…these are like the least guilty guilty-pleasures.  EVERYONE on here loves those.

well ok, but it's hard to tell from the amount of sh*t i've got in the past for liking them…

you did not just say this was a guilty pleasure. ok, maybe one of his albums that weren't so great but him as an artist…..no way, you gotta embrace that. i'm a ghostface fan.

it sorta is based on the fact, that out of most rap artists which i can't stand to listen to, except for oddly enough, the genius, old dirty bastard, i really have liked most of what i heard from him.  you know now that i think of it . . . i really loved das efx back in the day also.  neato.  i  need to go look if i have one of their albums still.
I'd have to say, in terms of minutes, my most-played music in 09 likely was Girls Aloud.
Gin Blossoms. Counting Crows. Zwan. Brand New. Tracy Chapman.

Idk man, he hasn't put anything out in a while. Fuckers gotta get into the studio.

what?  no tart pop?  or are you just not embarrassed about it?

I like tart pop as singles, but there's not really alot of artists I can say I like all of their stuff by. Britney or Miley or HDuff has some great tracks, but some crap too.

Gaga and Avril are probably my overall favorites.
Have you heard Girls Aloud? I think they are superior purveyors of fine filth. 'Tangled Up' is a great album.

Were you addressing me? I have not. But if you think I should, I will.

I like your wording.

He's dead, isn't he?

I love very traditional Chinese music because it's so relaxing and sensual. The real stuff, not the modern American stuff based on classical structures made to sound like Chinese music. Not that stuff by that guy who did the music for the film 'Crouching Tiger… (whatever it's called)'. That is exactly what I don't want! Have tried to find some in music stores and haven't a clue of what to look for and never, ever see any. Don't even hear it any Chinese restaurants anymore. Anyone know of any on Amazon?

I think they are worth your time if you like highly manufactured electro-pop in the Britney/Toxic vein. Extremely catchy, heavily produced within an inch of the pop/rock borderlands, and usually about some kind of sex. The afore-mentioned album is one of the few among this genre (in which I include Sugababes, Annie, and even those neglected make-out artists in Tatu) that is one killer track after another.

ODB died back in 2004. You guys didn't know that? It was a big deal because he collapsed in the studio while recording. On top of that, people were getting into battles over his estate and etc.
I think Julian was being sarcastic or faceitious whatever of those two  ;D
Man, ODB was the man. If you admitted to liking Gin Blossoms, Counting Crows, and other lame pop music…..you can't speak on ODB.
das right don't be talking no smack about bastard or i put a cap in your ass
