Glad they didn't mess up like that at V Fest. Otherwise, sounds like a fun weekend. Love the commentary…

it really was a great weekend of music. superchunk on saturday blew me away. pavement definitely was an awkward watch though. ss was in the worst mood because of technical problems…and malkmus laying on the ground during one of his songs didn't seem to help much.

Really liked Chavez's peformance…Superchunk was amazing as well..in fact I think they probably were the band of the week for me besides GBV…sorry I am a member of the Pollard cult.

Clean were pretty great but there show was during the day - nap time I guess - crowd was entranced by the psychedelic lights and it was whisper quiet. Georgia and Ira from Yo La Tengo sat in which was very cool of course - a highlight for sure. Speaking of Yo La Tengo, their set was amazing and yielded the loudest noise of the weekend even surpassing Sonic Youth who were also on top of their game. Let's hear it for married couples who rock! A few more thoughts. Not to complain but Superchunk is just brutal to watch with a hangover - I failed to keep up - especially after a sweet but mellow Cat Power set. Odd pairing there. GBV's momentum was building the entire night making for a great finale!

http://blog.washingtonpost.com/clicktrack/2010/10/a_not-so-brief_recap_of_matado.htmlThinking about the awkward silence in the elevator as Malitz and Girls ride together: priceless.

GBV's classic lineup which I saw at the Black Cat was never very tight or professional. Its about more than that and hopefully by the time they hit DC there will be some magic. I'm particularly looking forward to seeing Greg Demos.. I think he was a critical part of the great GBV albums… I didn't know it when I saw him but I do now and am looking forward to seeing him…

Seeing the Matador bands at a casino in vegas sounds- pardon the expression- really gay. I mean how incongruous is that? most of these acts are best seeing in a dark alley…

Being in a dark alley with Bob Pollard sounds pretty gay to me.
