GBV roll call, pregame and bizarre set time

Really I most want to find out why on earth the late night kings are going on at 8:00.  The only reasonable answer is they are planning for a five hour set.

Second, who's goin'!?!

And third, where's the pregame?  With DC9 possibly closed, I vote for Solly's, but there may be some Duffy's votes as well (I'd say the upside of Duffy's is that it's stumbling close, but stumbling while the sun is still out is not appealing to me at all).

Maybe the answer is that really this show involves post game?
I would like to see Sweet Apple so that's where I'll be prior to GBV showtime.

Maybe they are just coming to terms with old age and want to be snug in their beds by midnight.
They've been playing 'til 1 or 2 in other cities….  This is just DC.  [Also, pregame likely to start by 5:00, way before doors]
I'm in.
As I said on other post I'm on kid patrol..this early set times may mean I miss half the show…

woe is me..

There must be a reason..maybe they're playing on NPR the next day or satelilite radio
Yeah, that's kind of hurting me too.  I don't think I'll miss them at all…but definitely cuts down on my ability to get there early…

i'm guessing that they want to be done for metro. start at 8, play for 3.5 hours, be done by 11:30

i'll be there

of course i got my first cold in 2 years this weekend  :-[
i don't think the show will last more than 2.5 hours.
I will be there.
Yep, I'm there
doors open at 6:30 and sweet apple opens.. and gbv on at 8?
You know, that doesn't add up. You're right. Unless Sweet Apple are due only to play half an hr.

Doors 6:30
SA: 7
GBV: 8
the whole thing doesn't add up.. reading reviews of their previous shows (and they've been essentially playing a similar set list) their shows are coming in at about two hours.. if they go on at 8 they'll be done by 10…

ordinarily i could give a shit although i prefer later shows .. but for me in this case the later the start time the more convenient

i also can't remember if it was seth or who posted that they'd asked to play early so as to play a really long show.. again, seems highly unlikely.. these guys have barely played together… kevin fennell hasn't played the drums-before this tour- in 15 years…i actually have his alien lanes black t shirt i bought on ebay a bunch of years ago… they're going to play the 40 songs they've been playing and thats going to be it.

we'll know soon enough..thursday when they post set times..
I'm excited for an early start and a before 11 end.  Because I am old.
Hutch, I'm with you.  It's hard for me to believe that suddenly in the middle of the tour they're planning a 3.5, 4 hour show…  I usually love it when a show is done by 11 or so, but (1) that's not GBV, and (2) I know too many people who want to be there in time to be close to the stage but simply can't be there that early.

I'm not complaining (any longer).  Mostly I thought it had to be a mistake as this is the only show they're handling this way…
if they are done around 10 that is totally weird, but i took off friday, we have a hotel room. i'm down for whatever

Set times will probably now be 8:00 for support and 9:00 for GBV.

this makes more sense.
Listening to Jellyfish Reflector.. thats about the period I last saw this lineup or most of this lineup..unclear exactly who was in band at RFK show June 96….most excited about seeing Demos, Sproud, Fennell and Mitchell..

I wouldn't be surprised if they go on even later than 9…

Yay!  Whew.  Less stressed about tomorrow just in terms of getting there.
Plus, more time to drink before hand.
