I absolutely love the song 'Can't Hurry Love'. (Assuming you're asking about a good Concretes song)

this is what I was talking about in my "where do you learn about new music" thread. Who are these bands? Where did you hear about them?
Howe Gelb has been around for 20+ years. Does the name "Giant Sand" ring a bell?

I've never been a Giant Sand fan, but the Gelb disc isn't the train wreck I was expecting. (alt-country with a gospel choir should automatically raise a red flag)

Will have to check that song out… I'm DJing the Concretes show and was wondering what they were like soundwise, etc.

indie/psych pop … "can't hurry love" is definitely their best track, cameron crowe used it in "elizabethtown", sounds like something right out of the summer of love

concretes are swedish, so maybe something by my favorite swede indie popster of the moment, jens lekman … "maple leaves" is just a great song

and ex Dismemberment Plan, though Eric left the band after recording the new album.
Gnarles Barkley?
I tried to like them, but gave up. I ordered to new Gotan Project cd instead.

well thats one yes vote :D
Yes, I'm really digging Jens Lekman. Tis a shame he's not playing DC, in fact he has never played DC.

ripping it right now - will listen this afternoon
Five songs into the Gnarles Barkley and I'm sold… Great single and neat Violent Femmes cover so far and am really enjoying the updated 60s soul sound of the record. Would be interesting to see if this record inspires similiar efforts. The Cee-lo record just got added to the top of my yourmusic queue…
"Sno Angel Like You" is great. It's the first thing I've heard from Gelb or Sand. There's a gospel choir on it, but it is definitely not obtrusive or forced. All of the songs sound like they were originally composed with them in mind even though only about 1/3 of the songs are new. The choir mixes well with Gelb's minimalistic alt-country arrangements. It's definitely worth a listen.

and

Cee-Lo Green ... Is the Soul Machine

i actually like the second one more (blasphemy, i know)

Based on the Paste Review his record sounds like something of interest to me, that being 60s R&B mixed with rock. He's also at the Black Cat on Thursday… Anyone heard the record?
