Prince tour worth seeing?

I have to be in NYC for a family event the weekend before the new Prince date at Madison Square Garden.  I could stick around in the city without too much effort (but some additional expense) to catch the Prince show.

I know some of you have seen this tour already.  What do you think, is it worth some effort to get to see it?

Thanks.
He didn't play Erotic City.
Fwd: How do you know the 930 board is lame as fuck now? A thread titled: "Is The Prince Tour Worth Seeing?". *drops mic & walks away in disgust*

I don't get it, are you implying that Prince is so good that it is lame to ask if he is worth seeing or not?

Given that he hasn't done a proper tour in a while, this tour is kind of strange (random dates months apart), and had put out mediocre records for a few years, there is enough reason to be wary of it, or to want to hear from people who have seen it.
One other question about the tour for anyone who has seen it is where is a good place to sit?

Is the show truly in the round like Metallica did a few years ago, or is there clearly a front and a back like the current U2 tour?
he is a true phenomenon live

I knew you would chime in on this.  :)

Doesn't get much better than Prince live, truly  :o
Still want to see Prince live. Dude is legendary. Acts like him and Sade are just shows with that classic soul behind them.
i saw him live.  he was awesome.  but unless he's playing the "greatest" hits and nothing post diamonds and pearls . . . then don't bother.  and his ego needs another venue for the show.
just go.

special guests on jan 19: sharon jones and the dap kings.  great combo.

haven't seen anything about guests for the feb 7 show.

This.
joe quoting another hipster's blog.  i'm shocked.

strongest proof yet that prince puts on a good show: joe disapproves.
It's unsurprising but vansmack, sweetcell, et al firmly believe in idol worship.  Meaning that if you were great at one time, you will be great for infinity and how DARE you question otherwise!

i.e., Wilco, Nick Cave, Radiohead, Spiritualized, John Lennon, Neil Young, etc will ALWAYS be the most incredible, orgasmic, mind-blowing live experience your meager mind can ever comprehend and you should be HONORED to have the PRIVILEGE to be even be CONSIDERED to be ASKED to DONATE $235 a ticket to merely be within 500 yards of the same air that Kevin Shields farts in!!!

PRO: I'm sure Prince is perfectly fine in concert.
CON: I know this is confusing but "1999" was released in 1982. And that's almost thirty years ago.  Hell, Pink Floyds used to roam the earth back then.

First off, I am the idol that Sweetcell worships.

Secondly, I was forwarding a text that came from The Director for everyone's enjoyment because it made me laugh.
I think you forgot the Spin Doctors and Ned's Atomic Dustbin on that list.

My first concert was the Purple Rain tour.  #2 was the Unforgettable Fire tour at (gasp) Constitution Hall and then the next  leg at Cap Center the following spring..  The bar was set high….
doesn't take much to impress sweetcell.
