Albums You Wanted to Love, but Ended Up Disliking

someone is bored at work
Just about every sophomore effort where the self-indulgent lead singer took himself a little too seriously after the surprise and overwhelming success of the debut effort…
the wrens.
I wanted to love the new Josh Rouse album, because I paid an arm and a leg to preorder it. But it sucks. At least I got a free subscription to Paste out of the deal.

gasp!
Maybe he meant to post in the other thread. That would make more sense…
thats the beauty of emusic - it was available for download a few weeks prior to release and when I realized it sucked, I could comfort myslef that it only cost me about $2.50 worth of downloads

wow. this is in my top five albums of the '90s for sure.
I'd say that these were albums "I thought would be good" instead of "wanted to love".

Already mentioned and in agreement:
CYHSY had only a few likeable qualites
OK Computer is well done but Radiohead are not my bag.

Not mentioned:
The last Mars Volta album
The Bends
Horses - Patty Smith
Broken Social Scene
Jody Foster's Army - We Know You Suck
The White Stripes - The White Stripes
Big Black - Atomizer
The Stone Roses

These just come to mind without much effort; I'm sure there are plenty more.
