Identity, the ?first-ever touring electronic only music festival?

since the 20 locations where this travelling electronic festival will take place haven't been named, i didn't know in which flavor of JA this belonged so it got its own thread.

overall pretty damn commercial but a few  interesting acts in there.  i'd go as long as ticket prices aren't stupid.

Whoa, sounds boss. Kinda. Better than the "Hard" tour.
Ain't nothing cutting edge about Pretty Lights, The Disco Biscuits or Rusko's brand of brostep.

Although, it could be worse. At least it's not PVD, Tiesto, Ferry Corsten (or however you spell it), Paul Oakenfold, Carl Cox.

Edit2: kind of sad to see DJ Shadow so low on that bill.

you'll have to go to NYC for that... ;D
*sigh* I remember 'Big Top' at Capital Ballroom (aka Nation)… anyone remember that?  As I recall it was

Eat Static
Way Out West
Moby
System 7

who else was on the bill?

Hahahaha gross.
How about the NASA Rave New World tour 1993

Moby, Aphex Twin, Orbital and Vapourspace.

Game set match to moi
Ouch. That is not a lineup that can sustain a 20 city tour of the big sheds. I bet it doesn't make it past 2 dates before being cancelled.

1. There's a reason the vast majority of clubs/venues these acts play don't look like movie theaters.

2. Many of the acts are already appearing at festivals like DEMF, Mutek, Starscape, and Electric Daisy Carnival (that is now in 5 different cities this year) that have more going for them.

3. An August afternoon with Booka Shade might be cool by a pool in South Beach or Ibiza. Houston or Kansas City corporate sponsored shed? … Fuuuuck you
Tours like this are the future of shed events. There are fewer and fewer individual bands that are able to fill up venues that big anymore so Ticketmaster Live Nation will rely on packages like "Identity" to try and draw bigger crowds. It's just a matter of time until the Pitchfork/Windish "Best New Music" tour. Pretty sure someone suggested this would happen in one of the many Ticketmaster/Live Nation merger threads.

Dj Shadow, Crystal Method, Pete Tong, and Booka Shade would be pretty cool.

But fuck no to Steve Aoki, Skrillex, Disco Biscuits, and Rusko.

interesting tour to say the least.
Rusko did a great mix for Fabric, but another CD he did for Mixmag was just utter garbage.

wish Fake Blood and Boys Noize would come to DC in the near future

I'm kicking myself for missing the 2ManyDJ's (9:30 show) in 2007
The rave can never die.

i'd add modeselektor & holy ghost to the list of acts i'd be excited to see, and in the "give'em a chance" category i've got kaskade, erol alkan and aeroplane.

skrillex is only playing on date, apparently, so should you end up at one of these shows you only have a 5% chance of having him subjected to you :)
Aeroplane is only one guy, now.

The duo set at U St. Music Hall had its moments.
first date announced: sept 3 in SF.

in their defense, they've just added a Plastikman live set & a Hawtin DJ set.  then again, they've predictably enough added infected mushroom, so it all evens out.
Thursday August 18: Washington DC
Plastikman live is arguably one of the greatest electronic acts I've ever seen.
where would that show be at in d.c.?
i was really wishing it would be at merriweather. i loooooooooove that place.
oh well.
venues haven't been released, only cities.

who says it won't be at MPP?  i've seen more than one "washington dc" show at MPP.

if it is in the district proper, i wonder where they would hold this.  dc armory?  a university arena?  outdoors would be preferable, something like bull run, but not sure where they could do this inside the district.  RFK is too big - maybe a university football stadium?
If it's a "traveling festival" I'd aim for MPP, I don't see how they couldn't get a good crowd with this line-up. There's something for everyone in every spectrum of dance music.
