i recently quit facebook.  too many women posting about their kids and which games they think you care that they play.  god . . . why is facebook popular?  oh yeah, people are needy.

TT only did that as a way to stem the onslaught.  they had a limited amount of money to pay royalties with, so once they gt popular they needed to control how many people got in.  FB provided an easy way to do that.  supposedly TT has recently secured a bunch of venture financing, so they'll be opening up the floodgates soon.

you do realize you can un-friend people you aren't interested in, right?  it sorta mimics real life that way  ;D

Anyone get an invite yet? I signed up on the website a few weeks ago but nothing yet. Am curious to see how the "upload your own music" function works…does it attempt to "match"?

i didn't get an invite yet, but i had created an account with a fake UK address when the service first launched (and used a UK proxy to access it).  I just changed my address to my real US address and can now access my account :)

if you don't want to wait, you can opt to pay $4.99/month for unlimited streaming for $9.99/month for their premium service which also has a mobile app….no invite code needed for those services

Got my invite, but I need to download a "Spotify client" to use it, so no go at work, oh well. Why does it need a local application?

Motorola had some too

What I find interesting is that 8tracks.com has been offering legal streaming playlists for awhile now, which has gotten a ho-hum response, spotify shows up and people are clammering to get on.
