super catchy 3 piece band from Liverpool who got quite big with their song 'lets dance to joy division'. 'Moving to New York' was also quite popular (both off their first album about 3years ago). Played NYC a bajillion times and got a lot of hype. Somehow theyre even bigger now although I thought they kinda fell off the planet for awhile.
their live show is tons of fun if you just want to dance and have a good time. murph is an engaging frontman.
and yes, im sure you didnt want to know any of that, but might be of use for someone else.

i know, right? how could people possibly like something you don't, or something you happen to have never heard of? it's like their tastes differ from yours, and people are making up their own minds. fucking hell. when is this going to stop?

nah, it's just that i'm fed up with the self-centered delusional snobbery that seems to be on the rise recently. we need to stop this navel-gazing before people get sucked into themselves and create black holes.
in this case, he doesn't even know who the wombats are yet he's hating on people for wanting to go to their show. is the hate really needed? not to pick on ford, that's just one example. seems to be more of that going on around here lately. i guess i'm at fault to for perpetuating the vibe…
i do find it interesting that hating on other's tastes gets a pass around here, whereas my hating on the hating gets called out.

I would like to add that although I do know who the Wombats are I do find myself surprised (not angry) when an act I've never heard of comes to town and sells out the club.
Unfortunately I think it says more about me than the act or their fans, though.

indeed. that's rather self-aware of you… i like.
when an unknown band sells out the club, my first thought is "maybe i should check them out". hit rate is pretty low (hence the maybe), but i'll still give some of them a few minutes on spotify/
last.fm/myspace/etc. ya never know what you'll discover.
your post made me think of a possible explanation for the anger: "i'm a music guy, and i'm into
good music, therefore any band that i haven't heard of must automatically be
bad music. how dare they sell out a club!" ;D

keep trying - they're back to the crappy tickets now, but you never know. I pulled-up a ticket in 101 earlier.
