really excited for this show on Monday at the club, surprised to see them back in a rock club - how many times will Stephin whine about drinks clinking and talking and camera phones?
The Magnetic Fields
Eons back did a show with them for Go Records (think that was the record store, they were in the old BC basement for a while) in a parking lot in VA. He has some severe hearing problems, wanted no monitors for himself, and got the overall volume down to conversational level. That said, they put on an awesome performance and the audience was silent for the set.

Are you as equally embracing of such charming qualities when your wife displays them?

I was at the Philly show in March.
He was making faces to the people in front who were taking pictures…
When a woman in front yelled "play something from HOLIDAY!", he quickly told her to "SHUT UP".
It was a very enthusiastic crowd for Philly…so he told the audience "I'm not sure if we are in Philly…I think we're in Baltimore!"

Also am looking forward to this show. They have been sticking to essentially the same setlist for the whole tour which is somewhat of a drag because IMO predictability is a drag but the setlist is really good.
pretty good show - Stephin was in mid-season form, throwing his music stand after flubbing a couple of lines and passive aggressively entreating Claudia and Shirley to speed it up.
shows like this from mid-to-late career heavyweights with dozens (hundreds?) of great songs are all about the setlist, and this tour has a good one with some deeper cuts - especially gratifying if you've seen a lot of the big hits on the last couple of tours.

Agreed on it being a good show with a solid setlist but standing through it was rough. They are much more fit for a seated venue, IMO.
did a lot of people leave early? heard it was pretty thin at the end..

I was up front, didn't notice. Encore was a snoozer though.

Saw them at the Birchmere in 04' or so, that was a good venue for them… I do find that band highly annoying though.
