Bye, Chris Cooley

I'm truly saddened by this. I haven't been this sad about a player leaving the Skins since Sean Taylor died. Cooley was my favorite offensive player of the last 10 years. I loved his physicality. So sad he had to go out because of injuries. Hopefully Fred Davis can keep his mouth off of a fucking bong.

Cooley would have been released years ago if not for Fred Davis' dumbass and Vinny Cerrato's horrible drafting. Cooley has always been one of the most overrated Skins in recent memory. Fans just like him for his cheerleader wife and his nice guy persona, which is fine and all, but it doesn't make up for his legacy of suckitude on the field. Yeah, he had some injuries over the years, but when it comes down to it, his production on the field was seriously lacking. You can't make the team from the ice tub.
There was a reason why no one outside of DC knew who Cooley was four years ago and still don't know who he is. He sucks.

He needs to get healthy and get back in shape. But getting cut is ridiculous. Management sinks the Skins even lower.

Oh, OK. So how many years should they give him to get healthy and back in shape?

If the NFL didn't have a salary cap he'd still be on the team.

Nothing, he played in like 8 games last year? Or less? I think he had 8 catches last year and went down with the injury. He was a beloved player and for him to just be released like that sucks and I get that football is a business, but the Redskins have been riding that 'glory day' wave for years and Cooley was, arguably, this generation of Skins fans most beloved player. How can they expect to build a new legacy and keep bringing in new fans and prevent them from being Ravens fans if they just disrespect everything Cooley did for the organization?
Yes, his production on the field dropped due to injury, but to drop him for a WR that as moved over and a TE who had already broken the substance abuse policy 3 FUCKING TIMES is ludicrous ESPECIALLY after Cooley said he would do ANYTHING to stay on the team, including increased time at FB. So, business wise, I get it, but I think how they went about it is disrespectful and is exactly what has been wrong with the Skins under Snyder.

He wasn't producing enough to justify his salary. The team frees up some cash by cutting him. And they'll probably bring him back later for less money.

Bruce Allen came out and said that, when someone talked to Cooley he said he hadn't been contacted yet for a meeting, this was late last week, so maybe by now he's been contacted….

I guess it will be made official after a physical later today. He'll have a back up role though. I'm sure he'll get on the field though. I wonder if he's been working out the past couple of months….

They should have him play CB. Wouldn't hurt.
