and decided to pay the $20.20 for the comp

Fair Fight is a great org and I've supported them directly in the past
100% of the net proceeds from the album’s sales will go to Fair Fight, a voters rights organization that promotes fair elections around the country through voter education, election reform, and combating voter suppression.

got hipped to this benefit comp for indie music venues in chicago…

it has live jeff tweedy and Ok Go tracks on offer… i recognize a couple more artists in the track listing, pretty mixed bag of genres of i'm assuming chicago based artists.

so here is your bandcamp oddity for today… a live recording of low low audio quality of a surprise John Cougar Mellencamp show performing under another name in a small club…  midway through the set he brings out Lou Reed and they do some of his classics…. and the story gets better they were opening for John Prine.

This looks very promising… A group of Scottish Musicians are getting together to record new versions of their songs with their road crews serving as the musicians to benefit them.

Solid lineup for this to be released in Dec

This has become a thing..bands trying to do something for their road crews


That’s a side of the business nobody talks much about

Often the road crew start as a band’s original fans, friends and family and bands get very close with their crew… over the years and multiple tours everyone bonds… road crew kids might grow up playing with band member kids…often their crew are also musicians..sometimes when bands lose members someone from the road crew is promoted to replace the original band member… sometimes road crew members do side projects with a band member… sometimes someone starts out as road crew and then leaves to make their own band and music

It’s an interesting dynamic

Proceeds from this live album will go to Fair Fight Action, the voter participation advocacy group founded by Stacey Abrams, and their ongoing work to protect the rights of eligible voters in the upcoming Georgia runoff elections.

This recording took place on September 27, 1999, at the 40 Watt Club in Athens, GA.
