Coachella 2013 - The Postal Service reunites, music snobs love/hate it

apparently Gibbard and Tamborello are reuniting in the desert this spring:

interesting that coachella offered to make the entire festival vegan in order to get Moz to reunite with Marr.  yeah, that would have gone over great with the fans and the vendors…

i think having a smiths reunion would be a bigger draw than meat.  Have the postal service played live before?  I like Postal Service.  Hate death cab for cutie

They played the Black Cat years ago.  I missed it because I was in Chicago.

Why do they even bother trying for Morrissey/Marr?  They both said it will never happen.  Sad.

The Stone Roses and the Specials said the same thing.  In fact the Terry Hall of the Specials said he didn't care about money he would rather be a garbage man for money than be in the Specials again.  Morrissey  should feel awful for all the animals that will have to die during that weekend because he refuses to play with Marr again.  Both have egos that are too big.

Smiths reunion would be huge.  It would sell out instantly.  Biggest reunion of all time.
I knew the Stone Roses would reunite when the time was right. Mani told me once that they were all pretty much in, it was really just about timing and money being right and Ian Brown crumbling, which Mani said he knew he would.

I would say the 2 most unlikely reunions we'll ever see are the Smiths and Husker Du. Too much bad blood and too many egos. And the more that time passes on, the less likely it'll happen. Morrissey doesn't care if Mike Joyce and Andy Rourke need the money. Bob Mould doesn't need the cash. He could have reformed Sugar and been rewarded handsomely well there, and in the end he didn't even do that.

The Smiths would be the grandaddy of all reunions for sure, but at this point I don't even know why anyone bothers speculating anymore. The Jam is also never going to happen.

The band I think I'd want to see most right now is the Red House Painters. And Catherine Wheel.

Is it too early to ask for a Wolf Parade reunion?

is there a way to request that they never reunite.  The guys other bands are actually a 100 percent better.  Plus I already have seen them.
Phoenix and the Chili Peppers as headliners? Pish posh! But a good chunk of that line up is pretty sexy. I still would never go unless I had an all expenses paid trip of some kind haha.
Pretty awesome line-up.
RHCP need to die.
Not the band, the members themselves.
It is the only way to be rid of them forever.
Somebody put strychnine in their heroin.
Ahh shit. Just remembered holograms. They may be ruining festival lineups for centuries.
Who do the Red Hot Chili Shits keep blowing to get all these headlining gigs? They are horrendous yet keep getting all these high end headlining slots.

On the bright side: good time to vacate to beat the crowd and get a bit of sleep before moving on the following day.

This also means only one thing: Sonic will be there. Remember Sonic from a couple years ago who use to post here all the time? He once said that he was cursed with these guys. Everytime he went to some festival, he got stuck having to put up with them. Sonic, if you are reading this, sorry dude. What a miserable curse! Or, is it your fault they're on the bill?  ;D

None of the Coachella headliners are wow, but the undercard is pretty decent.  Primevera still looks good.  Let's hope Bonnaroo and Lolla are great
;D
uh stone roses / blur are  ;D

and what this thread is missing now is a Brian W. rant about how the Stone Roses have gone in popularity…

My take as well.  Undercard is strong enough to make going very worthwhile (wish I were, in fact).

The Chili Peppers' ongoing ability to score headlining gigs at festivals is rather astounding.
Grinderman and Nick Cave.  Pretty cool.
