Hipster music talk

so what you are saying is that they don't practice/rehearse before they record?  The songs suddenly become better live?

Some bands are better live for whatever reason.  Flaming Lips are better live as well.  And Scissor Sisters.  Other bands are awful live like Radiohead.
Flaming Lips are a stupid sideshow live too.

Seriously, terrible live band.
It sounds as if Azag is more focused on the aural quality of the show, whereas perhaps Atomic is more focused on the visual part of the show. Would they be fair to say?

Wayne can't sing for piss live, but it's a fun show nonetheless.

And they've been milking the same set for close to a decade now too.

Their records have actually gotten really good though.
saw Flaming Lips twice..once at the Black Cat which was a bizzaroo show where they had like 50 tape decks and called people from audience and gave them a tape deck and then Wayne played orchestra leader or something flapping his arms for people to push play on their deck or push stop….that was a weird show but somewhat interesting..

The second time was like 2003 or something at the club…the one with the costumes and bubbles and all that stuff… was pretty bored by the end… the emphasis was not on the music…no interest in seeing them again…
i once saw the flaming lips while tripping on mescaline.

they were not the same after that.  damn you drugs.

Does Avril still have fans?

She put on a pretty good show at KIIS FM's Wango Tango show in LA two weeks ago.  She's got some motherly hips and boobs now too.

I once saw the Flaming Lips and thought I was tripping on mescaline.

I have not been the same after that.  Thank you Flaming Lips.
Sometimes it helps to know what to expect. I've only seen FL once, at MPP in 2009, and it was enjoyable. It's like a popcorn movie. You go for the ride, just as long as they don't overreach one's suspension of disbelief (e.g. 2012).

Flaming Lips are a terrible live band but you have seen them do sets for over a decade.  Anyway that isn't true. Their set I saw at MPP about 5 years ago was different than their sets I saw at Lollapalooza and Virgin.
You can look at a setlist and not go to a show.
The show I was referencing was at the 930 club and was in the early 2000's.

I felt that way when I saw them at the Peach Pit (After Dark).

4/20/03 to be exact… I think.

Of Montreal is one of the best live bands in the world.

Not sure if serious.

I left midway through their set when they headlined for Janelle Monae (who stole the show). OM were awful.
