Coachella 2014... in case anyone still cares

once upon a time Coachella was a big deal around here.  we would guess at the lineup, collectively blow up when we got it right/wrong, and those going would make a lot of noise.  are those days over?  the lineup announcement is pretty solid IMO - good mix of mainstream and lesser-known.

the knife.

end of thread.
I'm just hoping this means a US tour for Motorhead in 2014.  My son is dying to see them, but not nearly as much as I'm dying to take him.
Probably my favorite line up in the past couple of years.
beck and pet shop boys

double, end of thread.
I saw The Knife last year. If it's the same tour, then count me out. It was 10% live performance and 90% dancing to their songs.  Still good to see them though.
Paul Westerberg and Tommy Stinson would be cool..

Still hoping Seth books them at some poinnt…

I must be misremembering but I thought you wrote that the last album wasn't that good…

;D

Jeez.  It is REALLY the Replacements if it's just two of them?  Are you really seeing "The Who" or "Guns N Roses" or "The New York Dolls"?  Don't wish for a band that you missed out on the first time and now are seeing a money-grubbing/compromised version of (Black "Tubby" Francis, I'm looking at you.)

Find the NEW Replacements.  Find the NEW Pixies.  Whatever they may sound like.  And if you like it, then they're great.  It doesn't matter what anyone else thinks.  Least of all, the 9:30 board.  Take me, I like The Fratellis.  Who may be the Nickelback of England.

Don't listen to what the blogs and corporate mags like "Maximum Rock N Roll" TELL YOU TO LISTEN TO.  Follow your ears.  You know what magazine I look to to find out about the hottest, hippest music around?

I mean, who ARE those guys?  Has anyone heard of them before?  Are they on Facebook or Twitter?

Brian
the last knife album was a masterpiece of masterpieces.  andy warhol came back to life the other day just to say the same thing.

it is that bastard relaxer, that hated it.  damn you relaxer.

of course not.

I been waiting to see Westerberg for years… I couldn't care less if he goes by "The Replacements" or "The Shit stains"

really after Bob Stinson it arguably wasn't the Mats anyways..

So true. I'd still go see 'em if they came through though.

Once I saw this, I knew that I was better off saving some dough and being more selective about smaller-scale concerts I want to see instead of attempting to do Coachella: http://gawker.com/jimmy-kimmel-gets-coachella-attendees-to-lie-about-liki-478088612
I'm in the same boat as just  hoping to see Paul one of these days. I've missed him each time he's been through in the past (and i like a lot of his recent material, so would have liked to hear it live) and it's been awhile now since he's done anything close to even coming out of his basement much less play some Replacements.

I saw them on the Pleased to Meet Me tour with Slim on guitar…personally I'm pretty sure I saw the Replacements.

Weird that you didn't mention Foster the People, Lana Del Rey, Brian Ferry, Lorde, and MGMT and instead mentioned the Afghan Wigs and Empire of the Sun.

Anyway this line-up is pretty incredible.  I would go if my idea of a good time was sitting out in extreme heat in the desert.

Did you ever see Bob Stinson play guitar in the Replacements? I am guessing you hadn't or you wouldn't be making a big deal about it not being the Replacements without him.

let me guess..he was drunk and shambolic…

gee, thats not what I would have thought of the replacements… i mean when i listen to their early records or live boots they sound like a precise metronomic machine of rock..
