Ashley Savage.  I followed her career fairly closely for a while.
And now you follow her from the court-mandated 100 feet.
Torched your ass, bitch!

You know what this means don't you?  This year will be the greatest "we're going to celebrate the 20th anniversary by performing the album in its entirety" EVER!

Albums like Bush's "Sixteen Stone" and Live's "Throwing Copper" are perfect for that type of thing…and Courtney Love could get Hole back together as well.  Are the Cranberries still together - "No Need to Argue" is another candidate.

"Sixteen Stone" and "Throwing Copper" probably sold more than any other album in this thread.  At least in America.  And probably spawned more "hit" singles, too.  "No Need to Argue" probably sold a lot too.  That was the one with "Zombie" wasn't it?  That song was huge.

Randy 'The Ram' Robinson: Goddamn they don't make em' like they used to.

Cassidy: Fuckin' 80's man, best shit ever !

Randy 'The Ram' Robinson: Bet'chr ass man, Guns N' Roses! Rules.

Cassidy: Crue!

Randy 'The Ram' Robinson: Yeah!

Cassidy: Def Lep!

Randy 'The Ram' Robinson: Then that Cobain pussy had to come around & ruin it all.

Cassidy: Like theres something wrong with just wanting to have a good time?

Randy 'The Ram' Robinson: I'll tell you somethin', I hate the fuckin' 90's.

Cassidy: Fuckin' 90's sucked.

Randy 'The Ram' Robinson: Fuckin' 90's sucked.

Charlatans - Up to our hips
Hole - Live Through This
Tori Amos - Under the Pink
Portishead - Dummy
Green Day - Dookie
Pulp - His n Hers

Offspring - Smash
Luna - Bewitched

Everything but the Girl - Amplified Heart
How has no one said Aphex Twin - Selected Ambient Works Vol 2?

A couple others I might have missed someone else listing already:
Elliott Smith - Roman Candle
Prodigy - Music For The Jilted Generation
Built To Spill - There's Nothing Wrong With Love
Jon Spencer Blues Explosion - Orange
Pavement: Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain  (for some reason everyone of you forgot the second CR)
The Afghan Whigs: What Jail Is Like
Guided By Voices Bee Thousand
Lucious Jackson - Natural Ingredients

Caught both Jon S, Lucious J and Jeff B at the old 930 club that year too

It was a good year for music
Was just reading the File Under: Easy Listening chapter of Bob Mould's book today. He surprisingly wasn't crazy about how it came out and felt as though the process was rushed. I think it holds up pretty well even given the hilarious lifting of entire musical phrases from MBV; the most obvious being "Your Favorite Thing."

seriously…I remember talking to Bob beore his solo show at Georgetown and he talked about Loveless and how it wouldn't be fully appreciated for 20 years.. I find FUEL to be a big letdown….

another album I think was top notch but nobody has mentioned is Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds Let Love In…..superlative.. I can remember buying that at the old Tower Records in Tyson and being blown away…

I guess Guided By Voices Bee Thousand has also been mentioned….

and how about the Mountain Goats Zopilote Machine?

so many albums that came out in 1994 had a big impact on me…

Johnny Cash's American Recordings came out in 94 and I think it was a very important album….not only did it really first introduce me to his music (and revitalize his career for a great final act) in an album form and not just a few songs you heard on the radio… but  I think it may have made many people take a new look at country music.. i wonder if alternative country would have happened without this album…i don't mean would people have recorded it but would people have bought it..

Manu Chao's Clandestino is his first solo record but arguably his last one "with" Mano Negra was a Mano Negra record in name only… to me this album fits in very well with Clandestino…I didn't hear it until later tough but its a good one

I think you all are forgetting the best album of 1994.

The Brooklyn Side by the Bottle Rockets

also, not their best, but it was their debut….

Hitchhike to Rhome by Old 97's.

Also worth mention:

Tulare Dust - A Songwriter's Tribute to Merle Haggard
Iris DeMent - My Life
The Mavericks -What a Crying Shame
Johnny Cash - American Recordings
Todd Snider - Songs for the Daily Planet
Portishead ? Dummy
Jeff Buckley ? Grace
Yes, Iris Dement's is a stunner…..I must have 5 copies..
Underworld's "Dubnobasswithmyheadman" was the first thing I thought of when I saw this thread.

also

Bark Psychosis - Hex (Seriously, one of the best)
Primal Scream - Give Out But Don't Give Up
Orbital - Snivilisation
Sunny Day Real Estate - Diary
