March Madness 2014

Is anyone running a pool?

If I win the Warren Buffett pool I promise to buy all of you a beer.
I nominate someone that knows how to use Paypal!
Sort of a tangent, but: if I'm looking for a place to watch the VCU game close to the Black Cat so that I can still make pizza underground on Friday, where would you all recommend? Is Duffys kind of my only option?

That Maser isn't going to pay for itself.
well I'd rather watch at Stetsons than Duffys and if you don't mind walking or have time which I don't think you do I'd go with the Blaguard

but it has been a while since I been keeping area barstools warm so others may know better

Thanks, Stetsons looks ok from the website. What is the place across U St from Brixton? They're sport-y, yes? I've never went inside.

You and walky would most likely both enjoy the new bar Handsome Cock on U Street.

bar pillar has a few TVs, no idea if they'll show the game there.

there's always nellie's - same distance as duffy's.

GMaps pulls up this place, never been:
Touchdown
1334 U St NW
Washington, DC 20009

Handsome cock replaced it…Any bar/restaurant with a tv will have the games on.
I didn't realize Nellie's was Julian's kind of bar.

Nellies is where I was thinking. I didn't realize it was a gay bar, I always just assumed it was a sports bar from the outside. Not that that's a dealbreaker.

yeah, seriously that's always been my experience. I wont accept more than one drink for any individual person because I feel that's leading them on, but I always just explain I'm not gay I'm just hanging out with so-and-so I've never had anybody have a problem with it. fun nights. The girls can dance without getting hit on by skeezy guys and I don't pay for anything.
thats why . . . we rule.

too far.. you're five blocks away

if you're willing to walk that far go to the blaguard…

i really think stetsons is the best of the options

but it depends….on many factors..

stetsons is more of a neighborhood place..where you might get an affordable beeer..where people watch the games… a lot of the newer places are great for that $8 or $9 beeer…and people aren't going to be focused at all on the game..

Ive never been to either. From a map, Blagaurd is do-able. Thanks.
Dodge City is usually pretty empty before shows, and they always seem to have sports on the television. Then again, it's only one television.

You haven't been to Stetsons in a while. In roughly 2009 or so it turned into a bar where a pint is $8.
Get to Stetsons early and drink shit beer and you won't pay that price.

Two things I've learned about Julian:

1. He drinks a beer twice a year.
2. He's not afraid of paying $8 for a beer.
