That's a bummer, but it couldn't be free forever. I really wouldn't mind having it go back to VFest or VirginFest at a bigger venue. The first few years were awesome.

Yeah, Freefest started the year I moved here and I'll miss having it as a summer send off. Many of the acts they brought in just wouldn't play this market otherwise, and to be able to see them in a festival setting was great.
I would happily pay for something similar (regardless of the branding) moving forward, and hope we can continue to have a unique and prominent festival in this area.
Great. Now we're going to get a rush of FreeFest boardies over here causing trouble….

after phish sunday night, from what i have heard of it . . . they should go ahead and close it down, due to nothing else comparing.
Fee!
I like the sound of that: FeeFest
i hear, millie grace, is headlining main stage. floyd, at the dance tent.
count me in as somebody who would rather pay and have a good festival in the area.. something i don't have to drive 2-4 hours to (NOT GONNA HAPPEN)…..
honestly, i guess i am in the minority but the last two years i don't think Freefest had great lineups and i skipped it.
i'd like to have something where we get somebody like the Replacements..they were never gonna play Freefest..
but i'll always be grateful for the year i saw LCD Soundsystem (and Pavement) there…LCD was one of the best shows I've seen.. or rather let me say one of the shows i most enjoyed…. and i was a few feet away from the stage…for F R E E….priceless…thank you Sir Seth (knighted by the order of Magnacca)…..thank you Richie Branson.

Couldn't we just add a bunch of bands to Jack White and call it a festival?
That LCD Show, actually the whole day/night, was just perfect. We were in the front row of the pavillion for most of the day, saw Trombone Shorty early in the morning…Joan Jett was just awesome. Aside from having to suffer through Matt and Kim, it was just a perfect perfect show. Opening up with Dance Y'rself Clean…just fantastic!
Ugh, I miss that band so much.

Have you heard of The Crystal Ark? It's what happened after LCD went defunct… great band too in their own right …
I really enjoyed that day as well.

I do not believe Seth owns or books West Potomac Park…
LCD Soundsystem at Freefest is one of my top 10 shows ever .. oh, and lookie here they are not older than 20 years either!
win win… ;D
Maybe, Taylor Swift and her violin will play.

no sh!t Sherlock….thanks for sharing that information
but that would be awesome if Seth owned a National Park!
I'm sure it would rock
Ok anecdotal name dropping of current bands does not erase your overwhelming predilection for artists who stopped making relevant music in the 90s. (or more likely 80/70/60s)

Yada said he's buying us both beers at the Ween reunion show
