Thom Yorke's BitTorrent release had over a million downloads in six dayshttp://www.engadget.com/2014/10/03/thom-yorke-bittorrent-download/… but we don't know how many of those are just the free bundle, vs. the paid one.
regardless, the economics are better for the artists:
