I'm always very grateful to spend time with him.

Noted.

I will be 59 on 11/14 (tomorrow) and he will be 88 on 12/27.  We have been getting back together over the last few years and a lot of it has been through various concerts, etc.  He REALLY likes the club a lot.  I have taken him there several times.

Sucks that the cheapest train tickets are already gone. That's the only way I'll ever go to NYC again unless I'm riding up with someone.

Spiritualized at RCMH is maybe the best sounding show I've ever been to.

In my top 5 shows of all time for sure.
Full album shows should have just stopped forever after that.

I saw them do L&G last year in LA and in some ways it was possibly even better.

This place is a beautiful venue - http://www.acehotel.com/losangeles/theatre

Not living on a farm right now, got about an acre 20 min SW of Raleigh.  Farms all around, our horses stay on a farm about 5 min away.  Landed a sweet job with the county school system down here, we are all loving life.
Been to one of those Christmas show.  Absolute bore fest.  Enjoy.

I just received an invitation from my cruise line (NCL) to attend the 2014 Radio City Music Hall Christmas Spectacular.  It supposedly includes some sort of reception in the Roxy suite and a meet and greet with the Rockettes.  I've only been to NYC a very few times and do not know my way around very well at all.  The show is Monday December 15th at 6:00 PM.

Questions:

1) Have any of you been to Christmas show and if so what all should I expect?  In your opinion is it worth the drive up from Richmond to see the show?

i went two years ago.  Its a very expensive show to begin with, and I had free tickets, so for me it was worth it.  i wouldn't pay to see it.

you can expect some classic christmas cheer, and also some strange digital theatre.  really hard to explain, but its weird.  they basically turn the stage into a gigantic TV screen…

2) For those who have been to the venue, are there any tips/pointers I should be aware of?

it's a beautiful venue.  the streets and entrances are crowded, and during christmas time, especially in rush hour (5-6pm), it's going to be pretty crazy to get in.  once your in, they have ushers who bring you to your seats and they have some expensive concessions like it's a movie theatre.

3) According to MapQuest it is a 5h 26m drive from my house to the venue.  If we leave Richmond at 8:00 that morning would we be able to make it to the show without hitting the brunt of the morning DC or NYC evening rush hours?

an alternative to amtrak would be to drive to outside city limits and take an MTA train in.  i use to drive to white plains, NY, park for ~$25 a day, and train in. there is probably a train station closer than white plains.

4) Is there parking within walking distance of the venue that is reliable and safe?  Any idea of cost?

i parked once in NYC.  it was $50 a day.  not worth it.

I don't know if it was this cart, but after my one and only visit to RCMH I had the best shwarma of my life off a cart near that place.  What a night.  It was my 2nd date with my wife.
