The best places to stand in D.C.?s music clubs

They stole my book idea.

Based on the 767 concerts I have been to, I have developed a theory for the perfect spot based on the type of instruments, size of venue, type of crowd and placement of sound system. Which means I usually stand alone and cry because my friends have other theories about where to stand.
by the bar.

I've never seen you in the VIP, and believe me, I would see you in the VIP.
the guy is such a pussy…every venue he wants you standing in the back or hiding by the water cooler!

I ususally find myself at the upstairs bar. As long as I find a spot to sit or see the stage I'm golden.

you are a very low maintenance date…

just to clarify do you need a spot to "sit OR see the stage" or "sit AND see the stage"

i agree with the black cat location, also the rnr hotel.
There is one place that works like a charm at all small venues / bars.  But I am not going to tell you.  Sorry.

I'd like a spot where I can see the stage. I don't need to sit. I rarely do. It is a welcome change to sit and see a show from that top balcony though.
