Has anyone seen it? Is it really worth 200 bucks a couple to go to it? I am a fan of the musical, but my husband is not, but we both want to see it.
But, damn…200 bucks.

It's the best musical I've seen in the last 10 years. Then again, I'm not easily offended and enjoy mocking others so perhaps I'm not the best gauge…

I enjoyed it but unlike vansmack, once I walked out of Kennedy Center that fateful night 4-5 years ago, I never thought about it again until reading your post. So was it a good show? Yes! Would it have been worth $200? I don't know! I think we paid about that for our tickets too, but marital date night knows no financial caps.

As soon as it ended, I leaned over and said, "I wanna see it again!"

Might be cheaper in Baltimore. I thought it was great, but $200/ticket is steep.

200 for two tickets…
And we are also not easily offended (um hello, I've been posting on this board for about 10 years now).

I think you've made it clear before you don't have kids. Doesn't not having kids allow you to blow money on stuff like this? If finances are tight, skip it. If finances aren't tight, who cares, it's only $200 blown, go out and enjoy yourself. That's my 20,000 cents.

I'm having this same discussion with myself about Stevie Wonder tickets. But one of my kids is going to a How to Write a College Application seminar tonight, so I think we have differing priorities.

I have seen it twice on Broadway at around $150-200/ticket; and once at KenCen (for free), and would definitely pay to see it again, and probably will soon. $200 for 2 tickets = no brainer. Hasadiga Ebowai. etc.

When do you reckon they'll make an analogous Book of Islam musical?

it's a great show, but I thought the current touring version, the one that was at the KC and is probably the same one up in Baltimore, played it too broadly, mugging too much and pitching it to the seats in the back. Which they have to do, these are big theaters. I'd originally seen it in NYC in 2011, from the 3rd row, and was blown away. Loved it. That theater in New York is MUCH smaller than the Hippodrome or the KC Opera House. I think it worked much better there.
BTW if you do go to NYC, I urge you to see "Hand to God" before it closes on Jan. 3rd. Laughed my ass off and it has some tour de force performances. It's about a teenager at a Texas church's bible study class whose arm becomes possessed by a demonic sock puppet. Brilliant and a must-see.

true. We are trying to be adult and save up for floors…Probably will have to skip it. Sucks because I really want to see it!
