Coldplay hate thread...please share your stories of disgust

we have a thread for this

i actually dug up this thread and was about to post it here, but thought that the "2021 albums" was more appropriate.  my main objective was to let folks know the album is coming out, but the secondary/aspirational reason for sharing this info was to get the haterz riled up.
What is there to hate? It’s like parsley…who cares either way?

they're just too bland to hate….

they are the parsley of rock….

I knew I had said it already..well it’s been 5 years
Parachutes came out right after Kid A. It sounded to me like they were inspired to make the music that Radiohead would make if they wanted to be (stay) a popular guitar band. I thought it was great.

Saw them at 9:30 Club in 2002. Something that struck me was that it was an intimate show that didn’t feel intimate. Some bands make an arena feel small (Bruce) but they made the club seem big. Felt very staged and and kind of sterile.

They worked with Eno after that and I still haven’t had a desire to hear anything else they’ve done. Like I haven’t wanted to listen to U2 post 2005.  Or Lenny Kravitz after 1993. Or Stone Temple Pilots after 1994.
I'll also defend Parachutes as I think a lot of people on hear have before. It has interesting guitar parts. I actually saw them at their first ever US show (an HFStival) and it was clear they could play to big crowds even though that particular crowd wanted them to get off the stage.

Rush of Blood to the Head is . . . fine. The interesting guitar parts went away but its not a bad record. I saw them for the final time on the X&Y tour because someone who had never seen them wanted to go and it was clear they have lost the thread altogether. But there's an OK song or two on that.

Everything after that is garbage. What I hear off the most recent albums is just straight up embarassing.

weren't they the ones who said they wouldn't tour any more unless they could figure how to do a carbon neutral world tour…

Coldplay: Band ready for backlash over eco-friendly world tour

they see the haters coming… so they've got that going for them.  which is nice.

To think I used to respect JLC
When I think matinee, I think all ages punk shows where instead of a coat check, it was a skateboard check

Jamie Lee Curtis Says It’s Time for Matinee Concerts: “I Want to Hear Coldplay at 1:00 P.M.”
"I think if we filled a stadium of people who want to see a matinee of Coldplay, I think we would start a trend"

Then we could just call them Oldplay

I 100% support this (and I'm pretty sure Ahmad would, too). Except the Coldplay part.

Years ago I thought of having a series of "inconveniently" scheduled shows, like Tuesday at 10:30 AM.
Bring on weekend matinee shows, count me in

Roz Ahmad? Shows you how out of touch these Hollywood elites are . Most people are working at 1pm.
You are correct. I'm very much a fan. I actually booked a Sunday Matinee (2-5) show last June and was told it wouldn't do well because people generally prefer evening shows but it came fairly close to selling out. I also like the idea of a ridiculously early morning show. Attended one in NYC at sunrise on the Williamsburg Bridge about a year and a half ago and a few of us who were there/played went out for breakfast after. I have no clue where something like that could be pulled off in DC, though.
