Total Way/No Way Issues

so, i was like, totally hanging out with my bestie, when he said "katy perry is sooooooo much better than taylor swift". and i was totally like, "no way". and he was like, "way". and so i was totally like, "NO way!" - and he comes back with "like, WAY!". so i had no choice but to escalate to "NO. BITCHING. WAY." and would you fucking believe it? he slams me with a "So F*CKING WAY!!!". although it made me die on the inside a little, and totally throw up in my mouth, in the interest of keeping the peace (and our status as besties), i politely acknowledged that we should agree to disagree.
has anyone else had similar way vs. no way arguments? how did it end?

Every time I hang out with my daughter, she puts Taylor Swift down by saying something like, "Taylor Swift is terrible, the Beach Boys are so much better, other kids my age have such terrible taste in music." And I say "way". And well, I guess this doesn't really fit the issue other than the original mention of Taylor Swift.

I think it's an issue of wanting to be an individual over being a conformist, or at least preferring to identify with her mom rather than her peers, rather than being a "hater".
