So the TV show's about music have really been taking some heat
as well as the biopic and other movies

So for me there are a few movies I've really liked that were about music/scene
I'm sure there are a few I'm missing, but OTTOMH

Not one is coming to mind…Doors, Ray, Cash, Get On Up…all really kinda sucked.  For a moment I like them, but none have really stood the test of time

I once saw River Phoenix and his sister Rain's band. They weren't half bad. Also saw Jason Schwartzman play drums with Phantom Planet at the Black Cat.

CBGB - on my Netflix queue, haven't watched yet. Alan Rickman as Hilly sounds promising, but Taylor Hawkins as Iggy is disturbing, especially as I understand it Iggy never actually played the club

My original post had Josie & The Pussycats and I edited it out, but I glad to see it made it twice

but I wasn't even thinking the Eddie Murphy/Bruce Willis/Jas Swartzman/Shatner

I was more thinking of actors playing musicians, not actors trying to be musicians


and LVL UP is an odd inclusion here, was just about to add them to the 'listenin' thread

Jared Leto starred in a tv show long before his band released an album.

That is why he made my list of actors turned musicians. 

Though Jared did play music from a young age, he did not do it professionally for almost a decade after he started acting.

Well I didn't mean odd in that way, more that I'd just come across them and were really starting to dig them….a thread about music by actors was the last place I'd think to see them referenced
