Kramer goes off Mel Gibson style

Kramer in Blackface
As it turns out, the tape picks up when he gets way out of control. Apparently, the folks on the receiving end of the tirade had arrived during the show. A large, diverse group, that apparently while getting settled and placing drink orders got Richards' attention. The first n-bomb was dropped well before anyone said anything to him. A couple of the guys from the audience were on the today show this morning explaining their side.

FWIW and IMHO, this is completely disgusting. I don't agree with use of the n-word by any group of people. Coming from a Jewish guy, or any flavor really, with that sort of hatefulness behind it is no joke. There's no "higher good" behind his comments. He and Gibson deserve each other. I guess if his antics are helping anyone to consider their own bigotries, that's great, but I can't see this as anything other than hate speech. Too bad the KKK won't take him in.

Hmmm, could this be b/c of all of the murders, rapes, and wars associated with the n-word…ya think?

FWIW, I'm not a self-righteous middle class white person, but I do think the word carries a ton of obviously heavy baggage.

I am a bit righteous…

These people are ALWAYS self-righteous middle class white people.

Words are harmless vibrations of air. Sticks and stones may break your bones, but words will never hurt you. Try shouting words at solid granite. Is there a noticable effect other than your utter foolishness.

Besides, you DO come off sounding highly self righteous.
People get killed, arrested, beaten up, and otherwise harmed because of words every day. Wars begin because of words. Words are the basic currency of human interaction, and to claim they have no weight or relevance is just ridiculous.

A funny thing about Kramer… remember that Seinfeld episode where they showed them making the "Show About Nothing," with actors playing all the Seinfeld characters… and the actor playing Kramer was a total asshole? Now I wonder whether that was actually modeled on the real Kramer…

That's not because of words. It's because of bad brain chemistry. Do you really think that you could rile the Dalai Lama by hurling epithets?
Puffs of air, sure. Harmless…are you joking? Have you ever heard of verbal abuse? How about incitement? And have you ever had a broken bone? If you have not, broken bones do tend to hurt.

Fine, I'll be highly self-righteous…laughing. You be…well, I don't know. Who/what are people that scream at granite, think that words don't harm people, and that broken bones don't hurt? You've suggested fool and since you're the expert in this area, I'll blindly agree.

Hey, this self-righteous bit is fun…

Could you really incite the Dalai Lama into breaking your bones with verbal abuse?

But I'll bet dollars to donuts I could incite YOU into doing something stupid &/or violent. You're obviously a compleat tool.
Thanks for playing, Surly. Though, I thought I'd get a little more out of you. Knew you'd be easily baited…just so you know, "sticks and stones…broken bones", I understand.

So what's the point of those words you typed? Surely Surly, you are doing the best you can to what? Inflict some damage with your typed puffs of air? For someone who believes words are harmless, I'm surprised at your response. Why bother with an attempt at an insult? "Tool"? Are people really still using that term?

Well, sticks and stones Surly. Just like you so wisely suggested. Sticks and stones. How about you test your theory about words being harmless on someone who thinks you have value? I'm sure you've got a lot of rocks to play with, but try your thoughts on a real live person and see what you and that unfortunate person gets in return.

Really, thanks for playing. Laughing…

I'm off for a bit of a drive and some turkey. You enjoy your crow. Oh, now I'm guessing that you're not going to run off and look up what constitutes "harm" in the dictionary. You probably won't bother to look up "compleat" either, but let me help ya with the spelling Surly, the letter "a" does not belong.

Today a couple of news shows reported that one way Michael Richards will be bowing to all the intense public pressure is to undergo a complex series of sensitivity therapies and encounter sessions to determine and treat the root causes of his deeply seated animosity toward blacks. It struck me as more than a little bit curious that a well known Negro who is also currently hogging the headlines once savagely ripped two whites apart like baked chickens and I haven't heard a peep about his having to take any intensive anger management classes or even attending a couple of hours worth of charm school. It's nice to know the rules and how they apply in this enlightened and progressive society.

Michael Richards, one of the greatest physical comedians ever, is now a guilty, self-hating husk of a man, poised with his mouth open and willing to let the world shit in his piehole for the rest of his life.

This public Jumbotron confession of sins strikes me as highly Orwellian. I truly hope that at the end of his twelve-hour weekly sensitivity sessions, he gets a spine back and lashes out with double ferocity at the rude comedy-club nobodies who wouldn't shut the fuck up while he was trying to perform.

Stop calling me Shirley!
I like that the "real" Kramer (who knew the "Seinfeld" show was a documentary?) has come forward to assure us that he is not a racist.

Oh, really? Because my first thought upon hearing about Richards' tirade was what does this say about the New York nobody on whom Richards' "Seinfeld" character was loosely, vaguely, let's face it not at all based except in name only in a ludicrous, farcical sitcom from ten years ago?

What's next? 8X10 autographed glossies of the "real" Soup Nazi for sale, saying, "No soup for you, Michael Richards"?

We're supposed to believe that Richards' racist rant has nothing to do with some inconsequential doofus he's probably never met?

Would unfunny off-putting Paul Mooney get air-time on CNN for any other reason than being black and sorta knowing Richards?

Without racism and its attendant cottage industry would Jesse Jackson or Al Sharpton live in mansions?

&lt;img src="http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y25/team_dupek/5b3982fe.jpg?t=1164661824" alt=" - " /&gt;

I believe racism is rampant in our culture if we only spend every waking moment sniffing it out and revelling and glorifying in it in a masochistic orgy of self-pity, persecution, litigation and reverse name-calling.

Or, conversely and interestingly, this constant declaiming "I'm so not a racist it isn't funny".

In the grammatically-incorrect words of Chris Rock: "Niggers want credit for shit they supposed to do."

When your stock liberal progressive goes into their stock routine: "I'm the only one who cares about the downtrodden. Everyone but me is a racist, bigot, unevolved, etc."- Do they evince compassion for a group of people? Or are they just using them to take a superior stance to everyone else?

I watched haughty self-important aristocratic rich white British Duchess Madonna proudly proclaim that her two not-so-young white children have readily accepted her newly-purchased Ubangi native boy "without regard for his skin color."

Really? You're raising your kids not to be racists? What do you want, a pat on the back, sweetheart? A Kaballah brownie point?

It's the oh-so-enlightened who need to wear their "tolerance" and "nonjudgmental" accepting natures on their sleeves as a badge of honor who invariably "judge" much like sharks feed.

Would you rather be called a "nigger" or "a horrible evil Negro-hating bad mean despicable Klan-worthy terrible racist awful person"?

<img src="http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y25/team_dupek/c4c389db.jpg?t=1164661879" alt=" - " />

I say we start a purely self-serving billion-dollar industry based on race-baiting, shameless opportunism and exploitation, hysterical recrimination and demonology, fear-mongering and self-righteous zeal. We can call it "the media".

Or, better yet: "show biz".

Kenny Kramer, i.e. the real Kramer, deserves credit for one of the better lines of the week:

"You know what the good news is? Judith Regan is now on a plane to California trying to sign Michael Richards to a book deal: 'If I Were A Racist, Here's What I Would Have Said.'"
Wow, Barack Obama is left-handed, just like me. I guess he gets my vote for President.

Surly, you certainly seem to be up in arms about this issue…

by the way, it's pretty well known that there is a "real Kramer" who the Kramer character was loosely based. Or at least someone who claims that.
