What's surprising is that she is white.

The new 39 year old DC police chief has a 24 year old son?
Not sure whats so surprising to you. 15 yr olds have kids with depressing regularity.
More power to her for not letting a bad decision as a kid ruin the rest of her life….

Not many 15 year old white girls have babies and then get so far later in life. Maybe even less black girls do it. That's what's surpirsing, dummy.
I also believe that black teens probably have more babies than white teens. The white teens get more abortions.

i think she sounds like a great choice, from everything that i've read about her … we need more beat cops who actually walk a beat!

rank and file MPD cops are less than thrilled with her promotion which means she must be good!

She lives in a home in Anne Arundel County on six acres with her Mom, her boyfriend, her 24 year old son, and five dogs, two of which are blind and deaf. She now must find a house in the city.
Chief Ramsey was on a flight with me from Chicago to National at the end of October. I was impressed that he was alone, waiting for his bags.

Do any of my fellow city-dwellers also get annoyed every time someone from the suburbs starts comparing DC to a war zone?

You could tell them the suburbs are, a
bore zone! :p
Seriously, a Secret Service agent is safer in DC than in a food court. Something like 90% of the crime happens in 10% of the city; most areas are pretty safe. But nothing will get better as long as 10% of the people have 90% of the money.

Well then start handing your money out to the poor people, Mr. NWDC.
