Who owned the 1990s?

This is the decade I should really know but going to have to think of two acts in addition to Nirvana…

Even though Nirvana was only around a few years they really set the table..
I think I will add the Beastie Boys leaving me one choice to be determined
For my third choice I have to pick a Matador Records act and will go with Pavement
oops wrong decade…
Oasis \ Blur

I prefer Blur but it’s hard to argue against the absolutely domination Oasis had in Europe for the majority of the decade.
Wanckers the whole lot of them

yeah I'm definitely team Blur, but Oasis had a  bigger impact at the time.  and a lot of the Oasis vs Blur was defined by their roots working class verses art school, which is less important here than in the UK.

i want to add Ash \ Supergrass but neither of them rose to the level those two were.  Belle & Sebastian arrived a little late to rule the 90s.
Is this where I post that Ron Perlman guy?

Yes, because all of the bands above didn't own shit in the 90s.
Maybe Nirvana… But that was short lived.

I'll go with Dr. Dre and Metallica
I agree with Yada. Dr. Dre definitely for rap; there's be no Snoopy without Dre.  Metallica for rock. I'd say Pearl Jam for alternative.

I can't decide on the development of neosoul we saw in the 90's-Mary J Blige? Maxwell?
Guys, it’s Garth Brooks. /thread
Maybe could make good case for Radiohead and Dr Dre

Minus the part where it’s Garth Brooks, yes. You could argue no one owned a decade of modern music MORE than Garth Brooks in the 90s. (I mean, you’d be wrong, it’s the Beatles and the 60s but you could argue it!)
I don’t know man but achy breaks heart always seemed kind of lame to me

I mean, it's no "So What'Cha Want" that's for sure.
90s are a tough call.

Nirvana is a lock. Oasis/Blur is a great call. Pearl Jam was still a formidable act at that point. Metallica sucked but we’re massive.

I’ll go Nine Inch Nails.  3 amazing releases that decade which is more than any of the above acts can claim. Massive Attack can claim this as well, tho.
How can a band like Blur who 99% of the world has no idea who they are be considered for this thread?
