While giving this away is totally legal under First Sale Doctrine, I worry that ethically it would be wrong for me to read this book in a way that doesn't compensate Neil Young for his words. I'll pass.

Look at famously non-Canadian, Mr. Young, Mr. "oh music should be listened to only via methods of pristine sound reproduction", not even accounting for the fact that whatever we're hearing may never be the same as the artist intended due to person to person undefinable limitations like the shape of ear canals or ear to ear variations.
Should we really be taking fidelity advice from the guy that dumped his long time rock Pegi Young for, who Daryl Hannah? Wait also, the guy who's stood in front of various guitar amps and next to drum kits night after night for decades? Now he allows for releases of a book in what is clearly an inferior format, paperback? Obviously the only acceptable format would be hand bound, untreated parchment manuscript. Just when you think you can trust a celebrity.

TAN: i have this exact issue with bob dylan. he's complained about sound quality in the past, and it is claimed that his ears are amazing in the studio… but i simply don't trust anyone who's been on the big stage for decades. theirs ears are, if not shot, at least damaged.

Gosh I don’t know where to start so I won’t…
Neil Young - as he has been the first to admit- harmed his hearing not playing live but mixing the Arc Weld live release
I choose not to get into his failed marriage with Pegi as it’s not really my business.. it does look bad but I have no idea…they dealt with some really tough stuff with their son having cerebral palsy… on a bad day I might offer an opinion but I try not to.
As a person that listens to a lot of music it’s pretty clear that starting in the late 90s brickwalling exploded and then accelerated with smartphones.. some of the more modern music literally hurts your ears.. I don’t think one needs perfect hearing to hear bad sound
I will assume evilzac doesn’t want the book..

Actually, I love Neil Young and the fact that he has maintained a personal and artistic vision, but the Pono is a hideous invention and has there ever been an update on the LincVolt.
I know that I've definitely ruined my ears from jam sessions laying in front a bass cabs and drum kits while playing. It actually makes it difficult to listen to music without ear fatigue.
I fully agree on a certain broad laziness in mixing of most modern music. I recall listening to What's the Story Morning Glory on headphones a few years back and not making it through the whole thing. I loved that album when I first heard it but learned about the whole super compressed method from an audio engineer friend of mine.
Also, I'm fully embarrassed, but haven't read a legit book in at least two years.

I'd say it was more of a cover that he added vibrato to
