you're probably not going to get an answer. i saw sal at the SY@NYC concert on the 4th, and he informed me that he "doesn't have internetz anymore". he hasn't posted on here in months. he's a really really nice guy, btw.

When I first got on this board back in 1996 or 1997, I was Ceremony, named for a Joy Division/New Order song, which was my favorite song of all time at that point. I then changed it to Ian Curtis (you know who he is!) because people thought Ceremony was a female.

Then around 1999 I settled on OscartheWilde, named for some obscure cello player.

This thread is just stupid!

Does a screen name "borrowed" from an associate of a band count? If so then mine is from Kosmo Vinyl publicist of the Only Band That Really Matter, The Clash.

Edit: it's actually "my friend goo" now that I look at it again. I guess that makes sense although I like mine better because it's not a direct rip of the lyric.

"POTW" has been used for at least a year, if not more.

If there were a thread for Boardies who's name appeared in a Bands Name/Song/Lyrics after they created it for board use, vansmack would be top of the list because it's only a matter of time before somebody references vansmack in a song.

Hey! Your handle appears in a man or astro-man song as well as being the name of a TV show character. That should count.
