I'm surprised Ruth's Chris hasn't been mentioned yet. Sure it's a chain, but the one above the circle has great ambiance for a long dinner and I love the way they bring the steaks to the table sizzling in butter. My choice is ribeye all the way, pretty much wherever I am.
I'm a big fan of The Prime Rib.

Beware the dress code,they're serious about it,but the steak is well worth it!

My vote goes to Blue Point on 13th near PA Ave. NW. The steaks are unforgettable but quite pricey. Also delicious and in a more reasonable price range are the seafood selections. Never had a bad meal there.
i'm all about keeping the money in the city, but for a decent steak, at a price that doesn't set you back 2 years on your student loans, go to either the arlington or silver spring location of ray's.

had dinner there the other night. i love the $19.95 hanger steak. now that's what grilled cow should taste like.

and its locally owned, unlike all the steakhouses in the city.
