Office closing early?
November 22, 2006 at 04:30 PM UTC
#
I work for a division of the United Way of America, which means I'm not in the main building in Old Town and thus miss out on all of the perks they get but none of the work. I received an email yesterday that the main headquarters is closing at 2 pm today.
Thankfully, the manager in charge today knows the value of employees who know the joy in having their eyes sting from the sweet sweat of a hard days work, so he's letting us go at 4PM.
Anyone else?

Assuming we get all commercial copy in, we are closing at 2. Long weekends screw with the traffic department

We were leaving at 2, but my boss called in (she's not here) and one of my co-workers convinced her to let us leave at 12. Love my co-workers. I have a flight at 5 anyway, so it doesn't change my plans much anyway.

My wife gets out two hours early, though us Feds don't, as far as I know. Thus, I'll be forced to take two hours vacation time, or she'll be forced to wait on me, or split the difference.

We got the go-ahead to leave at 3:00 "unless you have deadlines". Which… I do. At least it will be quiet here, and the ride home will be less traffic-y.
We're closed on Friday too, so that's a plus. My boy was singing "no daddy work four days play with Milo Bear" (or something to that effect) this morning, and that was awfully nice.

We are being let out at 4. It was announced yesterday, which doesn't help out anyone that made travel plans far in advance.

We're out at 2:00. And I convinced my boss back about a year ago that letting us out early is great, but it is REALLY helpful if folks know in advance so they can make travel/child-care plans. Whoopee, now he always lets us know a week in advance.

I'm the only person in the office today, so if I'm here past noon, I'll be shocked. Literally.

I've still got some unused use-it-or-lose-it leave. I'm headed to the Amish market (or, as Robyn Hitchcock calls it, the Ay-mish market).
