What about the Wrens?
They need to come back to DC, and they seem very 'zine friendly.
How "big" is DC9?
If you could pick a band...

Originally posted by redsock:yah…I saw them the other weekend - they played to me and about 5 people that showed up at Iota. Very friendly people too - they might be up for it. I can investigate further if ya like! 4 Way St. who played with them would do it (but I'm not akeen to them, others are though). Endochine (third band that played with the two) would definitely do it, just depending on the time of the event as they just returned to Austin.

The Wrens would be fantastic! They played the Backstage as the media was just picking up on them so it wasn't too out of hand packed. I'm sure they would sell out the Mainstage now. If not, then very close to it.
I think that I've already posted this in the Just Announced thread a week or two ago but The Wrens are supposed to be playing The Ottobar at yet some unannounced date as of yet.
Other possibilities would be…
Phaser (of course I'd suggest them :D )
The Carlsonics
Myracle Brah
Beauty Pill
The Lilys
Metropolitan
Highspire (Very good Shoegazers from Philly. I can hook you up with one of the members.)
PS: PLEASE make it on a Friday or Saturday night. ;)

Maybe I am simply underestimating the fact that bands want to play, bottom line. We'll see. And don't worry, its on a Friday night.

Oh, no! Why are you missing the show? (If you care to share.) Sorry about that. What about the interview? Will that still happen in some capacity? You should be able to work that out somehow with them being local, even if it's only meeting a few of them over beers some evening.
Yeah, they probably are a bit big for DC9 but you never know. I would tend to think it's more a money issue than anything, which is understandable. You can always look into it and decide against it if things don't fit. They may be up for it as they are now trying out new songs on us before they commit them to disc. That's when established bands like to play smaller venues.

no, it likely doesn't effect the interview…
forgot about The Frauds from Charm City

I'm missing Phaser too; going to NYC for GBV. Hope they play again soon….
I thought of Phaser too. I heard of them through this forum. Also, Q not U - aren't they local? I heard about them too from the board, so I don't know a lot about them. I have the Phaser show tentative in my calendar.
What about Forget Cassettes?

They are on WOXY and KEXP; they've toured with Q & Not U, and are playing with Metric in their hometown of Memphis.
Lest you think they are too indie or arcane for the Bigyawnapalooza – they are even playing FC in the Nordstrom juniors department.

Dude, you're far too tall to shop in that section.

Aren't you a bit too tall to be shopping in the juniors section?

Alas, the Wrens are out….scheduling conflicts.

So, in theory, do folks feel Bigger Lovers and The Apes would work sound wise?
