Smashing Pumpkins

Starr Hill is closed. It was a cool venue for shows but closed awhile ago. The pavillion is ok to see shows. I don't think this will sell out. Not many shows sell out there.

Starr Hill Brewery seems cool. Is it? What else is around?

Is it necessary to buy a parking ticket?
Starr Hill used to have shows, now they don't. It's still an OK hangout for cville.

You're either going to pay $7 to park when you get there or you can pay in advance. In theory you can find street parking, but that's never worked for me.

Totally? Wasn't there a while when it was closed as a venue but still a brewery?
Well yeah the brewery is still there but no one cared about that haha. The venue was where everyone cared about. I'm talking about the venue.
I think the brewery is out of town a little ways too so its not in the same building as the venue. The venue was suppose to have a chicken wing place open up there but that never happened. So it's just sitting there now.

Oh, ok, I knew that.
I saw the secret machines (among others) at star hill. it was a great show.
Hmm. So what is there to do that is near by the pavilion? Can you tailgate anywhere?
As far as parking goes. The place where you will end up parking is the deck (water street I think). I THINK you save a buck or two by pre-purchase of a ticket to park. At the very least you will have a place at the lot even if it is 'full' as they hold sports for the prepays.

As an FYI, just up from Starr Hill (right at UVA corner) is the satellite ballroom. Small place but they have some decent shows on occasion.
Well the pavillion is on the downtown mall. There is a bunch of bars that are on the mall. Most famous is Millers where Dave Mathews use to bartend. Not so sure for tailgating because I've never seen people do that for shows there. They are just pick a bar thats on the mall. Plenty of places to drink at.

Satellite Ballroom closed down a few months ago. Everything in this shit ass town has been closing down. Only music venue here now is the pavillion and gravity lounge.
Parking can be free if you get there early enough and find an open metered spot. Other then that there is plenty of parking around you just have to pay.
The pavilion is at the end of a road in the heart of the city that has been permanently closed off and made into a walk way. Lots of little shops for several blocks, many outdoor cafe's etc. Mind you C'ville is a tad, hmmm, different of a town shall I say. After all it is the home of "Mister Jefferson's" university. There is a slight air of hoity toidy there but not in an arrogant sort of way, it just is. I'm sure you will have a good time. Not sure if they have an 'official' time that let you start queuing up or not. But anyway if you do park in the deck, come out of the deck go to your right, cross the street and go a block or two until you are the street described above. The pavilion is at the far end of the street to your right. AFAIK that is the only enterance.
Is the Paramount Theater closed as well?
Nope that is acutually open.
yeah they used to have a cool ticket system where you could select specific seats on line. Not sure how long ago that changed but looks like thats not how it works any more.
