Recent Discoveries

I'm a sucker for an quirky song title so while recently paging through a couple hundred new additions on eMusic, the title "Man I Hate Your Band" by
Little Man Tate got my attention and seeing as it was a single it was a no brainer download to try it out. Turns out they were a great find.
As mentioned in the best song of 2006 thread, it sounds like Art Brut's little brother has formed his own band. Brennser makes the case that the b-side "Saved By A Chat Show" is the better song, it sounds like Jonathan Richmond doing a Billy Bragg song. While this maybe true… For the moment with the chorus of "Man I Hate Your Band" bouncing around inside my head and the song lyric "No Knickers Underneath", which gets me every time, I'll stick with the a-side.
The singles and their b-sides can be heard on the band's
MySpace page. The demos, available for download on the bands sound, great as well.

While flipping through a recent issue of CMJm one of their "On The Verge" bands is
Earl Greyhound a hard-rock revival band from NYC whose Led Zep stomp is enhanced by some Big Star harmonies and T. Rex attitude. Needless to say I had to check 'em out and find out more. Based on the song
"S.O.S" I'd have to say tracking down their album will be in order.

Have you heard of this band Snow Patrol? They are really awesome, they sound like Coldplay. Just thought I would be the first one to mention them on this board.

Come on, now. This is a good idea for a thread. It's like a more useful version of the "What are you listening to right now?" thread. Thanks for the recommendations, Kosmo. I liked them both!

Youre a bit late on your find. They've already played 3 shows in NYC during CMJ and right after.

another emusic find and to paraphrase Jens Lekman I have my dear friend Lisa to thank for it….I think Pollard would like these guys…..nice male female vocal interplay, soaring choruses…they remind me of the Delgado's and on a few songs of the New Pornos

Got the album and really like what I've hear… There are couple songs which meander a little long, but the Led Zep, Marc Bolan and T. Rex, and Big Star vibe though out is Swaggertastic. And yet another hard rock revival album better than the Raconteurs…

Earls Greyhound sounds pretty good. I just found out about Rodgrigo y Gabriela and really like it. It's instrumental guitar.

Damn him for not being as hip as you!! Your street cred score clearly trounces his!
