#49 & #50

since we are discussing The Outfield, I'll mention that The Decemberists have been covering them lately
people seem to get off on the outfield track "I dont wanna lose your love". To me it's just a legitimate rock and roll track.
Rhett, you're right.
Rhett, you're right.
Rhett, you're right.
Rhett, you're right.
Rhett, you're right.
Rhett, you're right.
Rhett, you're right.
Rhett, you're right.
Rhett, you're right.
Rhett, you're right.
I just like saying that

The set starts at 8 and ends at 2 so it's a long set. anything can happen. The point of these sets is to find the a common thread between all those songs and artists. Some people walk out of the club pointing an accusatory (Im not sure if thats a word) finger at your man, yelling "You're the worst fucking dj ever". Of course they're wrong. Unless they're Rhett, becaaaaaaaause
Rhett, you're right.
Rhett, you're right.
Rhett, you're right.
Rhett, you're right.
Rhett, you're right.
Rhett, you're right.
Rhett, you're right.
Rhett, you're right.
Rhett, you're right.
Rhett, you're right.

…while the majority scream and yell and toast up when they hear something they like.

Me I'm 34 and I've noticed the average age of the average person who fuly enjoys themselves at the force is like 25. Not to say that folks my age dont dig; they do for the most part, especially what I play before 10pm - maily downtempoish beat oriented stuff, some fusion, some dub, some IDM etc . But I find the mid-20-ers had the benefit of growing up with and loving speed/death/black metal as well as ALOT of hip hop and 90's alternative, and they're more accepting of those styles while most - not all - but most folks my age would rather not hear that stuff. That's just something I noticed. But I might be wrong.

Even if I'm wrong ….
Rhett, you're right.
Rhett, you're right.
Rhett, you're right.
Rhett, you're right.
:D
i'll have to say that "sister christian" by night ranger is a real crowd pleaser amongst peeps who are lean towards the indie stuff.
Yet another strike against the Decemberists. ;)

I'm not sure if that's sarcasm but on the guilty pleasure tip, yes that sort of thing is true.

That and Separate Ways by Journey
Listening to 80's Britpop is a guilty pleasure. NightRanger or the Outfield, now that's just painful.

But vansmack has a point. My indie rock girlfriend circa 1996 did love her Journey.
More like "Dont Stop Believin'"

You see? People spend millions of dollars on what's wrong with kids today when the answer's obvious - they just don't have taste!

I blame the parents.
Y'all might want to check out the Asia show at JAXX…
i was at a wawa in philly a few weekends back with the fiancee and a friend, and the outfield came on the radio. . and we all started singing it. . .felt like we were in "reality bites."

nevertheless, i love those 80s songs. . sister christian, the outfield, journey. . ahhh, journey. candlestick park used to play "when the lights go down in the city" after every night giants game. oakland would play "celebration" after every game they won.
no sarcasm here… i was spinning this 80s theme city paper party a couple years ago and of all the tracks spun that night sister christian got the biggest response.

in fact it ended up a the tail end of one my mixed cds. and it always gets that positive reaction when people see it listed.

Swagger - "Rock of Ages"

Primal Scream - "Rocks"
Grand Funk Railroad - "Some Kinda of Wonderful"
Kiss - "Detroit Rock City"
The Dead Boys - "Sonic Reducer"
Burning Brides - "Glass Slipper"
The Go - "But You Don't Know"
The Sights - "That Ain't Right Little Girl"
Easybeats - "Sorry"
The Romantics - "She's Got Everything"
Poison - "Talk Dirty To Me"
Social Distortion - "When She Begins"
The Rationals - "I Need You"
The James Gang -"Funk #49"
Foghat - "Slow Ride"
Guns and Roses - "Mr Brownstone"
Foo Fighters - "My Hero"
Thin Lizzy - "Boys Are Back In Town"
INXS - "Suicide Blonde"
Dandy Warhols - "Boys Better"
T. Rex - "20th Century Boy"
Lenny Kravitz - "Are You Gonna Go My Way"
Aeroesmith - "Sweet Emotion"
Night Ranger - "Sister Christian"
You know, a sudden Journey tune can get all of Toledo Lounge singing and swaying. While I don't want to listen to them every day at home, that's a force to be reckoned with….
nice.
word up on Foghat and James Gang. I accidently played the James gang joint last sunday as a matter of fact.

DJ Wren - but I don't spin as much as I'd like, although I've been lucky of late to get some slots at the 9:30 club.

Blame it on Dave Eggers.
