I feel confident that the show won't sell out.

I'll be there!

Do you think they'll play Iesha or Playground?

any chance this show will turn into a 2 for 1 special. im flat broke and too many other shows coming up. although im plenty sure the english beat is worth $25 all by themselves.
Belive me..I wish the show was 2 for 1 special then I drag my friend along and help pay for the damn high price of gass to!!!!

Hard to get people to go to weekday shows out of town nowadays for me!

Rick
I'm going
This is the best show I've seen at the club in a long time…if I was rich I'd actually fly back over for it.

Wanna send your private jet over for me Seth??? I'll pay for the actual ticket and will buy a few beers in the club so you'll more than make up the cost of the flight……
i wish these damned clubs would specify a start time. why do they make us guess? or is it the bands? so anyway, when's abc go on? not the warm-up band wmrmup band, AB friggin C!?

-real irritable today :(

if i were female i guess theyd call it bitchy or PMS'ing
*sigh*

FAQ

Any other venue, I'd pretty much agree with you.
English Beat is hardly a "warm up band".

9:30 always posts set times day of the show, and you can ask over in the FAQ (where you've already been directed), and you get an answer within 24 hours about 95% of the time. This is NOT the club to belly ache about.

I have a feeling this show could be tres annoying…I may prefer the "too cool for school" indie crowd to folks who go to one or two shows a year…

I was just going to post that before I saw your response.

Are people really more psyched to see ABC than The English Beat? Maybe my context is wrong, but it would seem to me that ABC should open for the Beat.
I'm waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay more psyched about ABC.

Actually, I meant to refer more to the FAQ's section on the left side of the front page which gives average set times for each night of the week. But the board FAQ is even more precise, when they have the info to give. Either way, the 9:30 Club is no Velvet Lounge!!!

They were the warm up band for Bowie at Milton Keynes Bowl in 1982…(or was it 1981?)

Actually, they were the warm up band for the warm up band, Icicle Works.

My group of four is split down the middle – two are in it for the Beat, and two for ABC.

I, myself, am ALL about ABC tonight…I've been listening all week and I am ready.

Oh O'Mankie, how I'd love to see Icicle Works. Though your story does not indicate much – *everyone* was a warm up band at some point. I think the English Beat/ABC bill is a pretty solid co-headliner scenario.
Bags, as I already said, this show is the best show I've seen posted at the club in a loooooooooong time. I really wish I could go.

Have fun and I expect a full report, with setlists immediately after,

:D
Remind me why this is the best show in a loooong time?

ABC hasn't put out a new album in 8 years, and English Beat hasn't put out an album in 14 years and is down to one original member.

Not saying it will be a bad show, but BEST show?

I have an extra ABC ticket that I am selling for $20. If you're interested, you can drop me an email at xsinner@gmail.com. Thanks.
Well, Bags finally makes it back stage at the club.

This show was FANTASTICALLY fun. The folks there enjoyed the hell out of it, and it was a Thursday that felt like a Friday. Inevitably, it's an awful school night for me (I have to be in particularly early tomorrow, after staying at work until after 8:00 and nearly missing the Beat's first song). So what, I can work happily after living it up tonight.

For those who were wondering, English Beat had a bigger crowd (and it's true, they're not even listed on the ticket). But, the ABC crowd wasn't small, and it was super excited, dancing, singing, blah blah.

More tomorrow, I need to get to sleep…..
