The oozing sanctimony.
Like Markie, I just wanted to see that one again.
Bags, you and Mark are two of the very most sanctimonious folks on this board, so just chill.
For the record (see below), the Old 97's back to back shows in NYC had completely different setlists, so you're paying for a completely different show. With the Shins, that's highly doubtful.

Good point that some people buying tickets for both nights, puts others into a bind. But, others need to get on the ball, and get tickets quickly for the reasons you state. Sometimes seeing a band two nights in a row, is not a waste – never know what will happen, how they will sound, set list can change, crowd dynamics, etc. Just depends on what you are looking for and how much you want to see someone.

Would you have gone to see Old 97's had they played the club two nights in a row?

-unselfish bastard, going ONE night.

I can see going to see a band two nights in a row at the same venue if it's likely that they have enough material to pull off two very different shows. Seeing the Shins two nights in a row at the same venue just seems like a waste of time and money. But I guess we're all wasteful in our own special way. :)
Ok it's been established that the Shins are sold out… Good luck to all of the people trying to get extra tickets.

The discussion of whether or not one is going one or two nights has been become tedious, boring and run it's course. OK
A not entirely flattering live review of the shins from the Guardian.co.uk
it's like mankie wrote the review……….dexy's midnite runners………….WTF!!!!

i think the reviewer is a little tied to the 80's
That review is pretty accurate. From the two times I've seen them, the Shins have been a good, but not a great live band.

The keyboard player is downright fucking annoying. Criminal that he's the one dating the model given that he's chubby, ugly, and incredibly annoying whereas James and the guitar guy seem to be much better catches.

I was only teasing you, as I figured you like the Old 97's so much you might go see them two nights in a row. I was simply pointing out that some people like to see a band they really like two nights in a row. Despite the crowd and going out late two nights in a row. Who cares if the set list is repeated or not. As someone else mentioned, I listen to cds I like over and over again…
But is the cd comparison really valid? You're not really investing all of your senses and time listening to a cd two nights in a row, like you are with a concert.

A more apt comparison would be: Would you go to the same play at the same theater two nights in a row? Perhaps some people would, but I wouldn't. And particularly if I knew it would prevent others from seeing the show.

Rhett, would you have sex with the same bloke (or woman) two nights in a row?
Definetely the funniest thread in a long time.
Not if they promised to play the same tunes two nights in a row.

Best to find a riding partner who's not a one trick pony.

Perhaps to you; you reap what you sow.

Jesus reminded us of this principle when he said "Give and it shall be given to you . . . with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you." (Lk. 6:38). This "cause and effect" relationship between behavior and benefit is powerfully taught throughout the Bible.
True…but seriously, it just depends…Enough comparisons, I have my answer to the aforementioned question.

The thought that it was "selfish" to buy tickets for both shows was actually my wife's, not mine. A lot of the controversial things I say on this board are just me repeating things she has said at home.

So you will have to dub her the sacrimonious and unctuous one, whatever those pretentious twenty dollar words are. Me, I'm simply a thief. Hail to the thief.

first of all, why the hell are you quoting the Bible to me? I am totally a humanist so that is basically like quoting some kinda folkloric thing…nice, but irrelevant…

secondly, you all were the ones who were exceedingly sanctimonious about our response to the fat chick who was crowd surfing at the Pietaster's show, and Mark is very sanctimonious about all manner of issues concerning race…

most often, when opinions are given that are contrary to what the majority of people posting here think, you all think that's sanctimony…you can't deal with people who are different from you and give their reasons why
yeah so uh, here is the shins stage layout
