The Darkness dropped by record label

British rockers The Darkness have been dropped by their record label in the wake of frontman Justin Hawkin's departure.

The I Believe In a Thing Called Love star has been clean of cocaine and alcohol for nine weeks after going into rehab in August, and decided he just can't live the rock 'n' roll lifestyle any more.

Hawkins' former bandmates - including his guitarist brother Dan - planned to continue without him, despite poor sales of second album One Way Ticket to Hell and Back.

However Atlantic Records executives have now ditched the depleted Darkness.
Maybe it was the horrid costs incurred by their backstage rider that influenced the decision..?
Wow…was that even 15 minutes???
I'm sorry, I just sneezed, did I miss some band?

No, just carry on.

Was your intent to imply that The Killers and The Darkness are basically the same band, or what?

Hmph, that rider asks for Strongbow cider. Good luck finding that in the States.

For real, I've seen it at two bars in the USA, ever. One here in DC and the other in Los Angeles. Never seen it in stores.

As for the Darkness HAHAHAHAHAHAHA good riddance

I know you can get it at Fado and sometimes the Brickskellar. A friend of mine in Philly orders it by the case from a distributor there.
What!? A bar in DC has Strongbow? And there's actually a distributor for it somewhere in this area? I apparently haven't been looking hard enough. The only place in the States I've ever found Strongbow is in Seattle (also at a bar called Fado, as a matter of fact). I don't know DC all that well, but I'm sure I can figure out where the two bars you mentioned are. As far as ordering it by the case directly from a distributor, any information on how I can do that would be greatly appreciated.
Yeah Fado definiltey has it, it's almost worth putting up with the mostly annoying crowd that place has. A few of the bartenders make a mean black velvet (50/50 Guinness/Strongbow).

PS Fado is on 7th Street in Chinatown, between H and I.
Fado is a chain bar.

The sky is blue.
it didnt seem like the guy above you caught on to that fact there boss.
I'm not a big bar person, so no, I didn't really realize that. Makes sense now that I think about it, though.

Awesome, thanks. On the black velvet, I'm not a Guinness person at all (I can do Irish carbombs, and that's about it), but I've had something called a Snakebite before. That was 50/50 Woodchuck and Harp. I imagine it would be even better with Strongbow (or Hornsby's, for that matter). Do they have Harp at Fado?
indeed they do
Strongbow is available at several bars in Annapolis. It's the new big thing, Man! 6 months from now no one will want it anymore, mostly cause it sucks.
Except me, because it's my favorite drink ever. It's only the most popular cider in the world, found in bars the world over. I've had it in Singapore, Hong Kong, Portugal…but it's been next to impossible to find in the States. From what you're all saying, hopefully that's changing.
I ordered a "Irish Carbomb" in a pub in Ireland.
I got a harsh lecture from the 10 or so people right around me.
I said sorry, and asked what they called that particular drink in ireland.
The response was a simple "carbomb"

live and learn
Calvert Woodley, Chevy Chase wine and liquor, and Magruders all either sell it, or could order strongbow for you.
Hmmm. I'll look into that, thanks. I asked a few places about special ordering it when I was living down around Norfolk, and there's apparently no distributor for it in that region. And searching online got me nowhere, except possible sellers in Florida and upper New England.

The Hard Rock Cafe in Bahrain (of all places) had it on tap, and thus is one of my favorite Hard Rocks out of the many I've visited.

A nice thread hijacking, by the way, if I do say so myself. :)
