STRANGEWAYS

YEAH….missing from above post is the date, so I was sure it was this Friday since I couldn't make it.

No, it's in 3 weeks!!

Friday 22 July 2005

YEAH YEAH! I'll be there with magnolias wilting in my hair…..
Went to the Morrissey concert back in November or December, and I had no idea how many Smiths/Morrissey followers there were and the massive subculture that was in existence…

People dressed up exactly like Morrissey, high greased up hair… Probably some of the bigger dorks out there next to a Star Wars or Star Trek convention.

Great show though.
i read an article a while back about this sub-culture of central american immigrant morrissey fanatics … it was really fascinating … can anyone dig that up?

Bags,

We wouldn't spring it on you that early. Good to see that someone reads these things carefully and follows the links. I knew it was on the webpage, but I missed it in the post. Ah, well. :)

Glad to hear that you will be able to make it afterall!

Hoya, it isn't this LA-latino fanaticism that you are talking about is it?

yep, that's it … thanks for digging it up …
ok so cryfest rules, so can strangeways live up to it? i mean you are taking the best dance night and making it even better by having all morrissey and no cure.

but doesn't zucchabar + medusa = stupid slutty club hoppers?

someone please tell me otherwise. i want to be excited about this. i also want to write bad across my neck and have people know what it means.

You're not really inspiring us to do or say anything to entice you to come. If you're ready to come and hate, don't come. Stick with your Black Cat dance nights…

Better yet, go to Nation!

the few times i've been = dorky club hoppers who like the rather obscure music being played … which is fine by me :D

I would not describe 'em as club hoppers, but I've only been a few times. Plus, I probably look right past anyone who verges on a club-hopper vibe. Being in to the music – always a good thing. That with a little bit of love for the bubble machine makes for a great night.

well, i didn't mean that in a pejorative sense … just that they were in a "club" and might be going to a different one later
Well, well, well. One should always try to live up to ones reputation, shouldn't one?

So, though I cannot promise any extra sluttiness at Strangeways, Medusa Promotions is proud to announce their SLUT party on Friday July 29th!

We'll post more about it in another thread, but you get the basics. Put together that sluttiest outfit and come on down! Free entry to anyone wearing any article of clothing that clearly says SLUT on it! :) So, if you've always wanted to be a SLUT or just look like one, here is your chance!

This event is fast approaching - it's this Friday! Yay! :)

Any song requests? Post them here!

Cheers

DJ Medusa.
i'm going to try and make it out for this …

i'm sure you'll play all the big singles, so no requests from me for those, but deeper cuts i'd love to hear:

"you just haven't earned it yet, baby"
"frankly mr. shankly"
"girl afraid"
"cemetry gates"
"girlfriend in a coma"
"is it really so strange?"

and i haven't been able to get "irish blood, english heart" out of my head lately …
I'm planning on being there, and I assume just about anything I ask for, you'll play anyway (I'm not all about the super obscure, I'm about the albums…)

Well goodness, this time PLEASE introduce yourself - I *still* don't know who you are. ;)

It would help to know who you are too, because we would hate to play your requests (noted, BTW!)before you arrive/after you leave.

Bags, I am also very happy to hear you will be in attendance. Watch out for the bubble machine - it likes you. ;)

We'll definitely have a request sheet at the DJ booth - feel free to fill it up, everyone! We love requests and always play them, if we have them!

Cheers/see you Friday

DJ Medusa.
i'll shoot for the somewhat more-obscure…

"pregnant for the last time"
and
"let the right one slip in"

One of my favorite Morrissey songs too! :)

LonnieBeale, I hope you will say hello so we know who you are!
