Then she dropped the master tapes for the Amps' "Pacer" in the gutter. Kelly was there too, clearly going through some severe heroin withdrawl. She was rocking herself back and forth on the curb, looking very pale and sick. That Amps record was basically a Breeders record, without Josephine. Jim McPherson was there too. I was back in Chicago on my spring break, I got them to sign my Breeders and Pixies stuff which was cool.
After a Breeders show in Barcelona in 1994, Kim Deal drew Shane MacGowan's face in my t-shirt. She was really nice.
The Amps's shows in Spain were some of the best shows I have been to.

nice to see so many pixies groupies - myself and some friends bumped into the band before a gig at the national stadium in dublin (a very fancy name for a boxing venue with a capacity of maybe 1,200)
Kim was very nice - my friend asked her to sign the back of his shirt - she even asked if Steven was spelt with a v or a ph - when he took it off she's written "Fuck you Steven, Love Kim"….it was the greatest day of his life!
One other Kim memory - about 15 minutes into the gig everyone is going absolutely mental and Kim steps up to the mic and says, "So we're going up to Belfast tomorrow, should we bring machine guns?" I've NEVER heard a crowded arena go so quiet so quickly…..

well the good news (for me anyway) is that the pixies have confirmed a show in dublin this summer. the bad news is that it's supporting the chilli peppers in the phoenix park (outdoor, capacity around 80-100,000). will still be there after forking out â?¬65 (nearly $80) a ticket but i can foresee a major dash to the beer tent once the pixies finish up.

This is great….you Pixies mob are as giddy as the Justin Timberlake newbies were that time.
After listening to them quite a bit on FRED, they are growing on me again. When I heard them played the first few times I thought to myself, "Hmmmmm, not as great as I remembered them" but that is beginning to change.

I know, at that time I was 20 years old. I hope it is acceptable. Kim Deal was to me like Shane MacGowan or Mike Scott would have been to you at that age.

I wasn't having a dig…it really is great that you're all
excited about the reunion.
My mistale, I don't know what giddy means. I wasn't taking it seriously either.

The setlist that I saw them do on the Doolittle tour had them doing the entire setlist in alphabetical order (or was it reverse alphabetical, can't remember). Was this typical?

Gotta say this is what I love about this band…who the HELL saw those dates coming? Frustrating yes…but what can you do? I think it's hilarious. I'd try to go to one of those dates warm-up dates, but given that I'll have to get on a plane later to get to Coachella, I'm not sure I'll make it. But I'll have to see what I can work out.

I'd be patient….they'll announce a whole slew of other dates. The first round of "pre-Coachella" dates is dribbling out. I recommend planning to hit one of these shows only if you're one of the folks planning to see them four or five times during the reunion tour….

Airfare is just too much…I can't justify flying out to Coachella AND doing one of those other dates. But I suspect they'll be playing some tiny places, which would be awesome. I dunnot…I'm still keep my fingers crossed to make it to Winnipeg. That would be a neat show, eh? ;)
