The T-Shirt Thread

ok mankie, i'll bite: how exactly do banana and montana not rhyme together? if you pronounce it "bananer"? seems to me that they rhyme rather well together, as do cherry and fairy.

It probably has to do with the accent. With a Brit accent Montana and Banana certainly do not rhyme because we actually pronounce the 't', not to mention the 'Mon' and 'Ban' part of it. Doodles do tend to pronounce 'o' like ''a' so I suppose you could make it work. As for fairy and cherry…same thing. Americans do tend to pronounce 'ai' and 'e' in a similar way. With my mancunian accent "fairy" would come out like "furry" (as in that animal is 'furry' look at that 'furry')and "cherry" like "chirry" so they don't rhyme at all when I say them out loud.

If you ever listen to Billy Bragg…he is a perfect example of rhyming accents rather than words. He uses his London accent very well to rhyme. For example he says "spouses" and "trousers" in a similar way. He says spouses like we do, but pronounces 'trousers' like 'trousies'.
I don't think Ba-nan-a and Mon-tan-a rhyme because "Ba" and "Mon" don't rhyme. Why is that so hard to understand, mon?

Cherry and fairy, sure they rhyme. But "hairy" is and infinitely more fun word than "fairy", thus that should be on the t-shirt.

Brits will surrender to any Iranian available. Game over, man. Game over.

Let them bail themselves out of this one. You'll see. They'll call for U.N.C.L.E.

Sporange is a real word. It's a variation on sporangia.
I don't think that would work because I think it's pronounced "spuh-ranj."

Though it's two words, "door hinge" rhymes…

Good idea for a shirt, poor execution.

You mean like we bailed you out of Gulf 1…and it looks like we'll have to sort gulf 2 out for you as well…the only one we didn't bail you out of was vietnam, and look at how you all fucked that one up, and you haven't stopped belly-aching about it since. YOU LOST. Get over it for fuck's sake. A bunch of convenience store and dry cleaning store owners kicked your sorry arses.
Real classy.
