rock showmanship dead?

"It's not, heaven knows, that I'm pining for the permanent return of Axl Rose. Not all rock showmanship is created equal. Yet since the very beginning â?? since Chuck Berry duckwalked; since Mick Jagger strutted; since Jim Morrison exposed himself; since Iggy Pop mutilated himself â?? rock stardom has been synonymous with charisma, for better and worse.
Today, however, such behavior has become highly suspect. It has come under the same acidic mistrust and scrutiny that Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert have brought to bear on traditional journalistic etiquette, and for a similar reason: Young people are … so over that stuff. "

ditto. how many fucking rock shows have i seen in my life? i forget probably 50 x more than i remember. but i'll never forget gg allin laying a wet one on some poor 15 year old kid, or iggy just fucking laying it down at 60, or anton firing his whole band after every song, or larry may breaking 40 ouncers over his head, or blag getting jumped by half the audience, or wondering how in the fuck shane stayed standing the whole set, or kembra from vhkb smashing chicken eggs on her snatch…
i guess if you're just gonna get up there and play the songs they better be fucking good. luckily ocasionally they are. if not i forgot your ass.
if you have more then bring it on, i say.

I'm just sayin' the 2 best concerts I've ever been to, I didn't even see the stage. If the music is rich enough, all senses are consuming the experience.
(side note)
Of those "showmanship" bands I have seen (90% of the time), their "showmanship" was making up for their lack of musicianship.
If I want to see cool ass visual shit, palace of wonders is right down on H St.
